I've been looking at things recently, and now I've realized: I can't find any references to what was considered attractive in any pre-colonial West African cultures. I have never seen that factored into any theories about what beauty is and I'm a bit concerned. Every reference to what Blacks, and most minorities, find attractive, taken in the here and now, except historical European, Asian, and Indian cultures. I don't hear that much about past New World views either.

Now, is this because they can't find the data or is it just people aren't looking for it, or am I not finding it. Does anyone know where I can find this information?

But honestly, even if I am overlooking something, pre-colonial African ideals of beauty are not found in common speculation or debate.

I'm afraid for how common this question probably is, but I'll ask it anyway because I've read something and now I'm curious of people's opinion.

Does anyone have a blatant hair color preference, why, and how important is it in choosing/liking someone? Do you believe there is an ideal? Open house to both genders, all sexualities, etc.

Which parent or side of the family do you most physically resemble? Or are you almost a perfect mix or look like nobody at all? And I'm curious to know what gender you are as well, if it's not icon apparent.

Does anybody off the top of their head know of any good school for anthopological research and study? Just curious.

For my Anth major class we have to look into a career path for a final project. I'm kind of stuck because up into now all my career planning has been for my other major and I never really gone into one. I guess I'd be interested in something involving Cultural Anthropology, like doing social research, studying other cultures or the interaction of other cultures, something to that extent. Is there a practical career path in the field that utilizes those things?
