  • Why do bank transfers take 2-3 business days?

Why in this digital, lightning-fast age, do ACH and EFT transfers take 2-3 days to get to your account. Why can't it be instantaneous or at least be cleared the next day. I have a theory that banks let it take so long so they can hold your money and make interest off of it :-)

  • Getting outrageous bank fees dropped.?

Recently my PNC Bank checking account was overdrawn for 1 business day then a deposit I made cleared and it was ok again. I have never been overdrawn before. One check and one Visa check card transaction made it overdrawn, so the bank charged $31 for each item, totalling $62.

I plan to go talk to someone at the bank to see if they can erase the fees. What is my best approach to take with them?

For the record, I know that fees are the natural consequences of being overdrawn, I am not disputing that here. It know it's my own fault, but I'd still like to avoid $62.00 in fees -- that's a lot of money.

  • Decorating large evergreen outside?

We have large evergreens in our front yard. They are as tall as our 1.5 story house. I'd like to put Christmas lights on them but don't know the best way of doing that. A ladder seems out of the question because I couldn't lean it on anything. Maybe a long pole with a hook? If so, do they sell such a thing? If I made one what should I make it out of? Here are two pictures of the trees in my latest blog entry: http://www.donnyspi.com/blog/

  • How do I make pumpkin rolls not chewy?

I have been making pumpkin rolls and they seem to be chewy rather than moist and soft. I have not found any different recipes to try, but there are different methods of preparation.

My recipe is: 2/3 cup pumpkin puree, 3 eggs, 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp lemon juice. Mix well and then add 3/4 cup flour, 1 tsp baking powder, and pumpkin pie spices. Bake at 350 for 15 mins, cooked on wax paper in a jelly roll pan.

Are there any ingredients I should add or change the quantity of to make this not be chewy and to make it more moist and soft?

    Thanks!

  • Movie theater popcorn?

Do you know a way to make popcorn at home that tastes like movie theatre popcorn?

I have a stovetop popcorn popper. How can I best approximate the taste of movie theatre popcorn? I tried varying levels of salt and Orville Redenbacher's popcorn topping, but nothing I do can match real movie theatre taste.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Canned grapes?

Besides Oregon brand, are there any other brands of canned green grapes? Where can I buy them?

I used to eat Shop Rite brand canned grapes years ago and it seems that canned grapes of any brand are harder and harder to find.

    Thanks!

  • disciplining shih tzus?

I need some tips on the best way to discipline a 2 year old, neutered, male shih tzu who bites sometimes. He'll bite when trying to put his leash on or when brushing his hair on his legs which he doesn't like touched. Is smacking his butt ok? Is verbally adminishing him the best? Isolation? I want to do what is best and most effective and humane.
