  • I was terminated from a position I had for 21 years. I used FMLA. Physician authorized. Do I have options?

I worked for this hospital for 21 years. I was in middle management. About five years ago I went through chemo and radiation treatment for non-hodgskins lymphoma.

As a result it did a real number on my lower back. It has continued to get worse. I have never taken more than 10 days off at one time since I began working there. I talked to my physician and he thought it might be a good idea if I took time away. He authorized time off under the Family Medical Leave Act. Two weeks after my return that I was terminated. I had been having some difficulty with staff doing their job. While I was away they got used to doing things for their convience and were not patient focused. I created corrective action plans. Several staff got together and agreed to go to administration and file a complaint against me for creating a hostile work envirnoment. They said they were afraid of retaliation so would not talk to me.. I received one term notice about work environment and one about my disability
