I reconnected with an old friend and invited her and her family to a big summer event for my family. Unfortunately, for the two times this friend and her family have attended, she has managed to assume an air of familiarity with some of my family members who have expressed annoyance. Maybe she is trying too hard to fit in. Her husband, too, has managed to irritate people (he is a know-it-all type) because he is not tolerant of other people's point of view. The family event is a month away and we are starting to send of the invites. This person will surely see the references to the event and certainly the pics afterward on facebook, so this has to be dealt with beforehand. What is the least offensive way to not invite these people? I do not want to cause them any pain, as they have been going through a continuing run of misfortune (health and job). Anything you would constructively offer will be most welcome.
