My landlord verbally abuses me and repeatedly gives out personal information. What can I do to make it stop?
I pay my rent on time and keep quietly to myself, so other than to respectfully complain about problems in the community, I avoid the management team like the plague because the wife has been repeatedly verbally abusive to me and the man is on a power trip. They "blacklist" tenants that stand up to them, they spread lies, give out personal and private information, and incite problems between neighbors to harass those they don't like. They want me gone because I have backed others that have complained or reported unsafe conditions to the authorities, but they have no legal cause for my eviction, so they create a hostile environment how ever they can. I have very little money for legal fees and they make sure there are no witnesses so I have no real documentation of their abuse.
This last time upon returning the key to the laundry room, the woman "manager" came out screaming and spitting in an overblown rage because I had put a filthy, stinking trash can outside the door of the laundry while I did my clothes. The place is always nasty but I have to use it, and at times there is a lot of funk coming off the trash can and it stinks up the room. I always put it back and at times I even clean up everybody else's mess, so I not only don't understand what the issue is, but resent that this woman feels it is acceptable to verbally abuse me and act in such an unprofessional manner especially for something so petty.
She knows I don't like them and think they are lousy managers, but she still has a professional duty to consider. Now I want to take legal action to stop this abuse, at least until I can move out hopefully after this winter, but I don't know if a restraining order could be effective. I also know it will only escalate if I stand up for myself and report them to the authorities. I can't take the stress very well because of health issues, I resent that they are forcing me out of my home through such tactics, but I can't stand being victimized and harassed so I have to do something to make it stop.
A corporation of doctors and lawyers owns the property and are notorious for ignoring problems and even dare people to try to sue them saying how they have millions of dollars and a crack legal team. They don't care about anything but the money and their low income, senior residents can "just move if you don't like it". I own a mobile home in a once nice park, that now has a reputation of being the dregs so selling our units and moving is a serious issue for most of us. I also suspect that no matter how much the managers want me gone, they will complicate the sale just to cause additional trouble for me... some have literally handed over the keys, just to get out of this place! I need a sale to get into a decent place and refuse to hand them over my equity for their profit!
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow do I find addresses from 30 to 50 years ago concerning my family housing?
My family moved around a LOT when I was a kid and now I want to put together some of my history before I go. I want to find relatives homes too. My family was never close, is mostly dead or do not know either, so there is no help there.
6 AnswersGenealogy1 decade agoWhy would a convicted child molester...?
move into a "Family" trailer park, less than a mile away from an Elementary school? Why did management allow it?
He is old enough to live in a "Senior" park away from children, and he has made it clear that he has "plenty of money"... to afford to buy a house if he wanted... but he chose a "low class" trailer park instead.
Does this scenario seem odd to anybody else?
I got to "know" him before I found out he was a convicted child molester (still has to register)... and though I am not accusing him of anything, I got the creepies twice when I saw him watching the little neighbor girls playing. Still "perverted" or not, he has chosen an environment that I thought was unallowed by California law. I need more objective opinions on this please.
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow can I get a copy of Win XP Pro off my computer for reinstall?
I'm not majorly computer saavy, but I am bright enough to follow directions.
I bought a shop built computer with XP Pro installed about 6 years ago. When I asked for a reboot disk, the guy said to just take it off the computer.
They offer no "tech support" because it is "a builders shop".
Can you please help me as I need to have a copy because I want to make some hardware upgrades. I don't want to have to buy it if I don't have to (mine is a genuine and registered copy).
Links and any info would be appreciated.
4 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoDo you think Cinco De Mayo warrants status as an official holiday in America?
It celebrates a battle victory between Mexico and France. It is not an Independence Day, nor even an end to the war celebration.
Mexico defaulted on its debt to France, so they were invaded.
It has nothing to do with American history, heritage or US military honor, so wouldn't making it official simply be pandering to a minority population?
5 AnswersOther - Holidays1 decade agoDo you think Cinco De Mayo has become popular with non Mexicans because it is marketed as a drinker's holiday?
It is not a Mexican Indepedence day, nor the end of a war. It honors a battle victory between Mexico and France.
Mexico defaulted on its debt, so France took the opportunity to invade.
I feel it has become reduced to a marketing ploy to boost liquor and food sales that takes advantage of Mexican heritage and sentimentality in the US.
4 AnswersOther - Holidays1 decade agoIs mandatory cable TV payments legal?
My friend lives in a MHPark that charges more than the cable company does for basic service. It is CA, but I have never heard of a "luxury item" being imposed on a renter. Is it legal? There are many people there on low and fixed incomes, so money matters. Since the corporation that owns the park has deep pockets, would they stand a chance in court, since the manager says pay, move or sue. They own their own mobilehomes, but pay space rent, so "moving" is troublesome.
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoWhat can be done about the prevailing anti-pet policies in housing?
With the foreclosure debacle, the public is becoming more aware of animals being abandoned due to the lack of housing that allows pets.
Renters with dogs are facing tighter restrictions, higher fees and outright discrimination. Not only at the housing level, but also through community laws.
How can a pet friendly housing trend be reinstituted? Not only so pets and their people can share their lives fully, but also for the shelter animals to have a chance at rehoming.
7 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoWhich car sold in America is the smallest/lightest?
In the 70's many of the Hondas, Toyotas, and VWs were used to make conversions into electric cars. I am interested in 90's and newer cars to convert.
9 AnswersAlternative Fuel Vehicles1 decade agoIf you could not vote for your first choice and HAD to vote for an opposing party member, who and why?
Hypothetical.
You can't vote for who you think would make the best President... decide who would be next best OUTSIDE of your own Party.
Example:
If you are a Democrat, you MUST choose a Republican, Independent, Green or any other party.
Even if this 2nd choice candidate had no real chance of winning the election (Notice we still only get Rep and Dems
elected).
Briefly, why did you choose this candidate?
Please, only serious need reply.
8 AnswersElections1 decade agoDo you think America should move away from personal fireworks for 4th of July in favor of safer practices?
It is obvious that fireworks pose many dangers, particularly when carelessly used and abused. Would you be in favor of discontinuing the "traditional" practices for safer light, visual and decorative displays as has been adopted for Christmas and Halloween?
In the era of technological advances, miniaturization, and ecological awareness, there could be many novel ways to celebrate "patriotism" (term used loosely) in an entertaining fashion on both a personal level and in public extravaganzas.
Would banning personal fireworks be acceptable to you on a National level, and would you show the initiative to boycott explosive and polluting displays to make it a safer and saner holiday?
5 AnswersOther - Holidays1 decade agoIs my father's second family "my" family too?
I was not raised by my father due to divorce and met him when I was a young adult. After nearly 30 years of involvement and what I considered a minor confrontation, he said I have "no rights" in "his family".
I am his 3rd born child and 1st daughter. In his second marriage he had one other daughter by birth and adopted a son. I consider them my brother and sister though none of us "siblings" are particularly close.
The 2 brothers I grew up with have also been distanced, and I am wondering if this is why they gave up. We only superficially discussed it and I thought it was simply personality clash. I felt like my father and I had bonded and we got along wonderfully (most of the time).
I am pained that he does not consider the children from his first marriage part of "his family".
I slowly realized this has been a prevailing attitude of his all these years, it was only finally overtly claimed.
So, what is "family"?
