  • Has anyone had any experience with NG and G-Tubes?

My 3 year old has cancer and is going through chemo. She was never a heavy eater and now with all of the chemo drugs, she is eating and drinking even less. She has a NG tube right now, but it hurts her. It hurts her nose and it seems to hurt her stomach as well. The doctors want to give her a G-Tube, but I am afraid because that is another hole that I have to keep safe from siblings and infection (she has had 2 Broviac catheters already because of infection). She has 9 months of treatment left.

I would like to know what it was like if you have had either or both kinds of feeding tubes. Since my daughter can't really express herself right now, I sort of need people who have experience with the tubes to give me an opinion. Please don't worry, this is just 1 step in my research. Thank you very much.

  • What can I do about a mom who cornered mt 10yr old & threatened her?

My 10yr old & her 10yr old have been bickering for months. They used to be friends, but now they're not. They argue all of the time & hurtful things are said on both sides. I've been letting the school deal with it, but then the mom "talked" to me about the situation & threatened to take my daughter to the school district & have her kicked out of school for being a bully. Then I talked to my daughter to stop the things that she was doing that was making the situation worse. And that's when my daughter said that the woman had cornered her on the school campus & threatened her.

When I talked to the principal today she had said that the mom had called her this morning & didn't want any adults talking to her daughter. So I'm thinking that she knows what she did was wrong!

My husband & I would like to know what we can do to protect our kid since the school can't. Is there any legal recourse or anything that we can do just in case the woman makes good on her threats? The principal is trying to remedy the situation, but my daughter is terribly afraid that the mom is going to retaliate now that my daughter has "tattled".

  • How do I save my oak tree?

I have an oak tree in front of my apartment that has been over watered for almost 2 yrs now. My neighbors & I have been complaining to the management since it started, but they don't care. They did lessen the water spillage, but not stop it. The tree still has leaves, but not that many. I was just wondering if there is anything that we can do or if it's too late.

  • When you put your medications in the 1 quart bag, do they x-ray them?

I read the TSA's guidelines & they weren't very clear. My daughter has several medications that are liquid & under 3oz. I just want to know if they x-ray the stuff in the bags. I don't think that it would be good for her meds.

    Any help will be appreciated!

  • Are there any non-religious Nar-Anon type of groups?

If so, then could you give me their contact info. I need 1 of those kind of groups, but I would just be faking step 2. And I don't think that will help my situation any. Also it would be nice to know if this group helped you to stop being an enabler.

For those that don't know what Nar-Anon is: it's a 12 step group that helps families deal with their drug addicted family members.

    Thank you.

  • Does any one have a good recipe that I can make using cranberry sauce?

My neighbor gave us 8 cans of jellied cranberry sauce & I don't know what to do with them. We don't like cranberry sauce. But I thought that if I mix it with something, then it wouldn't be so bad. I don't know what tastes good with cranberries. I am thinking something with a citrus fruit would be OK, but I can't afford to have a failed experiment. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

  • Does anyone who takes the medication, Lantus Insulin Glargine, feel itchy after they inject it?

My 9 yr old says she's itchy after every injection. Luckily it's just once a day, but she doesn't like it. We've asked her diabetes clinic & the pharmacy & they said that no one else has complained. The pharmacy suggested that she takes benadryl a half hour before she needs her shot. But then she's so sleepy afterwards. I don't like to drug my kids if I don't have to. So I guess that my question is:does anyone else feel any side effects to the medication?

  • Is hair loss normal after being diagnosed & treated for type 1 diabetes?

My 9 yr old daughter was diagnosed on 12-17-07 & after a week in the hospital she came home. She started to be sick during Thanksgiving week & got steadily worse. Her pediatrition said she was fine & I was crazy. Even though she lost 30 lbs! She was already a skinny kid to begin with! Luckily I took her to the ER before she went into a coma. But now that we're managing her diabetes, she has gained her weight back & she has even grown. But she has lost a ton of hair! Her temples are bald. It looks like it's growing back, but it's not as thick. I understand that she was sick for a long time & this is bound to happen. But I didn't think that she would lose so much. She loses handfuls when she brushes it & when she washes it. The kids in school have started to notice & they haven't been kind. Her endocrinologist says the hair loss is normal, but I have my doubts. So I was wondering if anyone who knows could tell us. Thank you.

  • Does any one know the child safety seat laws for Texas or where I can find them online?

I'll be visiting my in-laws in Texas & I don't want to have to bring all 4 car seats with me on a plane. That's a lot of stuff to be carrying along with keeping the kids in line. Not what I would call a good time!

    Thank you.

  • Is it tacky to give a $300.00 tv. to a neighbor for Christmas if we have used it for a month?

We can either return the tv. or give it to a neighbor. The neighbor has done lots of things for us & this could be a way of thanking him. We would be totally honest with him & let him know that it is gently used. We have the box it came in & the instructions have never been taken out of the plastc wrap. But the tv. has been plugged in & used for about a month. So is this a crappy gift?

  • Does anyone know how to change their name in California?

I still haven't changed my maiden name to my married name. My 10yr anniversary is coming up & I thought it might be a good present to my husband. Does anyone know what it costs & what the exact procedures are? Will they accept the license that I was given by the chapel? It doesn't have the state seal on it or anything. DMV wouldn't accept it as a legal document for me, but they did for my husband. Any help would be appreciated!

  • Who did the song "Silent Lucidity"?

It was popular in the 90's & I can't for the life of me remember who sang it. I think it even topped the charts for a while. I do remember it was a male band & that it was a ballad.
