  • Need information on polls, jargon, etc.?

I'm going to be honest, I hated american football. I'm a rugby person (as I'm British). However, seeing as I'm now studying at Rutgers, I think it's probably fair to get into it. I shouldn't be so closed minded and distant from this game that everybody I know loves so much.

Anyway, I know how american football works. I understand the game, which is fine. But what confuses me are the polls and various other jargon used.

For example, what does it mean when a team is 8-2? Or 9-0 (rutgers, hehe)? Also, what are these polls exactly? I believe they're some kind of rating system? And there's a few of them? BCS.. AP.. can someone elaborate?

Why can't it be "this team beats this team, the winner plays the winner of another game"? Kind of like the football (soccer) or rugby championships, you know?

  • Does infatuation ever die down?

I've never had a girlfriend mainly because I've been afraid of committing, but I've had countless mutual crushes and have become close to girls like that.

So I've never been in love with anyone, however I've been in mutual-infatuation with a girl and I love that. A few things that I like about crushes (and to an extent, early stages of dating) are: Flirting, touching a lot but still a bit shy, getting to know things about someone, butterflies in your stomach when you see them, wanting to be around them, wanting to talk/learn about them, dancing with them, looking at them/catching them look at you, playing subtle mind games to attract them, etc.

With love, you basically know everything about the person. You've been accustomed to being around them. I'm wondering, does the infatuation eventually die down then? Are there no butterflies in the stomach anymore? Is there any excitement? Anything new to learn?

Because if love is sombre like that, I'd rather not have it

  • Where to put my hands while dancing close with a girl?

When I'm dancing with a girl up close or even when grinding with girls, where should I keep my hands?

Normally I hold a drink in one hand so that only leaves the other hand to worry about. I usually hold/caress the girl. Suppose I have no drink in my hand, should I just use my arms as they're used as I naturally dance, or should I really be holding on to her while she grinds- especially if we like each other?

I'm guessing it's probably the same if she's got her back to me or we're dancing close face-to-face, right? I've been told by some that you should just dance close and let the girl do what she does best and not touch her.. but I feel like that's a little too reserved and unattached. I want to have a connection.

I'm talking about college/university parties mostly, just in case you were wondering.
