Toddler too big for his car seat?
My 15 month old is a very big boy! He is tall and weighs 41 pounds. He is at the limits of his car seat. Even if we do get a seat with a higher weight rating, he will not make it to 4 years old before he outgrows it. Have any other parents with big kids had this problem....what did you do?? I don't really want him out of a five point or in a booster seat, but I fear that the seat is not rated or tested to meet the extra weight. I realize he SHOULD be in a forward facing car seat and that that option is far superior if possible. At this stage it looks like it is not possible. I appreciate any help! Thank you!
And to all those out there who are going to be stupid and tell me to put my son on a diet or nonsense like that, don't bother. He is just right for his height and his doctor is very happy with him. My son is exactly at the right place for HIM! Thank you!
11 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoInfant getting too big for rear facing carseat...options?
My son is coming up to 2 months old and is already over 15 pounds. We have already had to buy a new 3 in 1 seat as he can no longer fit the straps of his infant seat. This new seat can hold him until he hits 35 pounds but at the rate he is growing he will hit that well before he is one year. There are no other rear facing seats that have higher weight limits. What are the options for him if he does max out under a year?? I know it is bad for him to be forward facing. Anyone been here before???
