  • is this restless leg syndrome?

for last couple of years or so, I have been observing this happen to me. 99% of times, at late night, usually if I am up past the usual sleeping cycle, I get a creeping sensation in my legs. It has also happened during the day times, and sometimes when I am on the bus or flight.

all I can think of / desire / fantasize is get on a tread mill and start running like crazy.

the only thing that relieves this pain is sitting with my knees curled (like muslims pray) for a few minutes. but it may not help all the time.

sometimes this happens more than 3 times in a week, sometimes once in every three weeks.

    any comments? suggestions? home remedy?

  • Left upper eyelid twitching for last 5 months?

I have read many things about this on the internet, and I am trying to avoid visiting a doctor because this happened to my left lower lid a few years back, and it went away on its own.

Right now, it is starting to become little annoying because of continuous fluttering. I sleep about 6 hours a day, exercise almost every alternate day, but of course work a lot in front of the computer.

Do you have any OTC medication to suggest? does Magnesium/Calcium supplement help at all?

I really need this twitching gone.

    Thanks

  • Living and working in Turkey?

I am an east Indian guy who has a bachelors degree in Electronics and Telecomm engineering and a masters degree from United States of America in the field of Information Management (MIS).

I am looking to move to Turkey for personal reasons in the future. Is it too difficult for an english speaking east indian to settle down and find some work in Turkey? How welcoming is this country for people from other countries looking to come and settle down and work with them?

Please, can some native Turkish people comment on this? This is really very important for me because I may be marrying a girl from Turkey. I would really really appreciate your help and responses.

    Thank You..

  • the typical triangle issue?

5 months back, I met a Turkish girl in school. I am a 27 year old (east) Indian guy. We became good friends and spoke for hours. Eventually I developed feelings for her and I asked her out one day in December. I already knew that she has a boyfriend in Turkey for last 2 years and they have been in a very distant relationship. She is of a very quiet nature and fears hurting anyone. Initially, she said no to me and went to Turkey after her semester leaving me in a very weird state (I was also switching between school to a job).

When she came back, things changed. She said that she finds my persistence impressive, and she is now totally confused. She does not want to let go of me as a very close friend, and my feelings toward her do not disturb her. In fact, she openly admitted that she is considering me but does not know anything about what's going to happen and if she has the courage to break his heart, and both of them are also a little confused about the future since she is going to be in USA for next few years and he can't be.

We hit some speed bumps every now and then - I feel I should cut strings because I get dragged into being at a loser's end all the time, and sometimes I decide to give her time to figure out. She is going back to visit home in May. I feel that I won't be able to move on until I get rid of these feelings if she is not to be with me.

What do you suggest I do? I can't stop communications with her (it makes both of us quite miserable), and I can't focus on my life whenever the thought of she and her boyfriend and my situation comes to my mind.

  • 1998 Civic DX fix gap between headlamp and fender?

I fixed a new fender and headlight assembly on the driver side on my 1998 Honda Civic DX - I noticed that the headlight assembly took some effort to fit because the fender is from a 1999 Honda Civic and a little different from the 1998 Headlight lamp assembly edge that goes aligned with it.

Now, there is a about 3/4th inch gap. Is there any way I can fix the gap like this? Any way to use some decorative strip or any kind of filling?

    thanks

  • 1998 Honda Civic DX poor fuel efficiency?

Automatic transmission, running flawlessly at 66k miles. I have not been driving this car a lot for last 6 months, but do take regular short drives.

The mpg has gone from 30 to almost 22 in the city. No check engine light. The temperatures are fine, the tires are new, brakes look good.

The last major maintenance was at 55k miles (new exhaust, CV boot joints, spark plugs, distributor (it went bad). After that, until about 64k it was running great with 30 mpg in the city.

    Not sure what happened gradually..

any suggestions? The acceleration is a little sluggish now too.. but it could be me..

  • Filing Taxes in two states on two different VISA status respectively?

I worked in Boston, Massachusetts for first half of year 2008 as H1B VISA employee. For the rest of year 2008, I was a full time student on F1 VISA in Syracuse, New York.

Thus I have two W2 forms - one from my previous employer, and one from Syracuse University (student employee).

    a) All the time I was in MA, I was on H1-B (started in November 2006)

    b) All the time I was in NY, I was on F1 (started in August 2008)

For Federal Tax Purpose, I am a "RESIDENT ALIEN" and thus only need to file FORM 1040EZ (single). I do NOT have to file FORM 8843 because I pass the substantial presence test for Federal purpose.

For MA State Tax Purpose, I am a "PART YEAR RESIDENT ALIEN" because I lived in MA until August 2008 before I moved out. I file "Form 1-NR/PY Mass. Nonresident/Part-Year Resident Tax Return"

Now, my question is, for NY State Tax Purpose, should I file as "PART YEAR RESIDENT ALIEN" or "NONRESIDENT ALIEN"? The instructions say that in nearly all cases, your Federal status is going to be your State status. But I don't qualify for NY State residency test (presence test). How do I go about this?

Also, how do we find out what amount from the total taxable interest I earned on my savings account (1099-INT) while I was in NYS? Very strange.

    Thanks!

  • 1998 Honda Civic DX gas mileage problem?

This is a auto transmission 1998 Honda Civic DX at 66k miles mark. I bought it at 46k miles and did a couple of major maintenance and tune ups. The spark plugs were replaced at 55k, distributor and exhaust system is also brand new (5k miles ago). The car runs fantastic.

Over last 5-6 months (cold cold city), it is continuously performing poorer on gas mileage. From a sweet 32 MPG to a poor 20 MPG.

I haven't driven this car much for last six months, because I go to school now. That means very less maintenance, too. Finally I took it to a repair shop. The repair guy sounded trustworthy - he first thought (since we smelled gas from the outlet on the top of the engine when it took the cap off, and a lot of air) that it is a bad head gasket spoiling the compression. He took opinion from another mechanic and he then said that the head gasket is OK and it could be valve or piston and it could be costly to open (and grind n stuff).

But then, at the end, he said, let's start with basics. He cleaned the fuel system thoroughly and checked the fuel pressure again. It went up from 30 to 40. And we could smell no gas from the engine. The engine is definitely running smoother now (it could be in my mind though).

The car ALWAYS runs cool (never overheated), no leakages (full coolants/blue antifreeze). Do you think head gasket could spoil the gas mileage and do you think that could be the cause, or we just fixed the problem by simply cleaning the fuel system which wasn't done for last 25k miles.

  • 1998 Honda Civic DX bad gas mileage?

The mileage is almost down by 40%

Yes I don't drive this car after Aug 08, but don't service it regularly either, except for oil change.

It is operated in a very cold winter now. The average can drop but not so much. What should be replaced? Also, can anyone please give me approximate cost of replacing fuel filter, distributor rotor cap, etc. that usually is recommended for increasing fuel efficiency.

Another symptom - the car feels heavy. The acceleration is heavy.

  • 1998 Honda Civic Fuel Efficiency?

    - A year ago, at 55000 miles, this wonderful Automatic Transmission car used to give me 30 MPG in the city, and 34 on the highways on long drives.

    - For last few months, at 64000 miles, the fuel efficiency has dropped significantly to 22 MPG. Cold weather in New York is ONE factor, but shouldn't affect much.

    - The oil changes are regular, tires are new. Last time I changed the spark plugs was at 54000 miles, and did servicing regularly until 60000 miles.

Any suggestions? spark plugs? I do notice a "little" heaviness (roughness) while accelerating but no misfires. Don't want to drive the thoughts in this direction, but just what I think, it could be in my head :)

    Thanks!

  • 1998 Honda Civic DX Winter Performance?

I bought this car in July 2007 with 47000 miles on it. For the first year or so, it continually gave me 33 MPG on long highway drives and about 29 MPG on shorter or city driving to work etc.

Now the car is at 65000 and the fuel efficiency has dropped to about 28 MPG on long highway drives and about 26 MPG on shorter or city driving to work etc.

I obviously chose to skip 65k servicing mark because I am a student for next year or so. But I had already taken care of fuel system cleaning, coolant and transmission fluids flushing. The car is otherwise in a tip top condition.

An important point is - winter obviously worsens this. What would be the best solution to this problem that typically is prominent in winters?

  • what kind of heartburn is this?

A few years back, I thought this was a simple form of occasional acidity. I think cold milk took care of it most of the times.

I am 26 today. My heartburn can be described as something that occurs after burps (I burp more often these days than I did previously).

A needle pierce like pain occurs exactly at the end of the lowest rib and at the center of the body. Sometimes the pain persists (the burning sensation). It has been gradually worsening. I saw a doctor. He gave me a medicine that is similar to Prilosec after endoscopy. When I take it, life is good. The day I stop it, I get the heartburn the next day.

I DO NOT get any food or acidic foul taste in the upper portion of my oesophagus. Now I have came to know more about the lactic acids etc. and I know that milk only can suppress it but can actually worsen it. Tried lacto-free milk but did not improve the situation much. I try to lessen my coffee intake and I am fully aware of all the foods that worsen it. Is avoiding these foods the only way out in my case? Is there a known home remedy that can suppress this pain?

    Thank You.

  • Honda Civic vibrations at higher speeds?

Now here is a tricky one. The car drove fine a couple of days ago. Since then, it was standing in the snow until I took it out again.

I noticed that the car was vibrating at speeds of 45-50 mph. I somehow brought it back and kicked the rear bumper. Heaps of dried ice blocks fell down.

My question now is - would this cause the car to vibrate? Obviously there is this ice near the tires that might create an imbalance?

  • Location database and crew website development?

I am preparing a project plan for a company that wishes to setup their business by offering locations and crew for filming movies etc. In addition to the basic information that needs to get on the website, I want to know where I can find the "Database" specific information regarding the same. e.g. what exactly are the IT specific requirements of such a website creation where images, meta data, crew people and their practices are stored, and is easily accessible to users? Users should also be able to contact us etc.
