A New Jersey father went to Brazil yesterday attempting to get his son, back from his step father. The real father has been fighting for custody of his child for over 4 years now.

The courts in Brazil say in February they will rule on a motion to let the nine year old testify as to where he wants to live. If you were in this situation, would you simply take your child and bring him back to the US?

The Iranians took a 31 year old journalist and claimed she was a US Spy. They gave her a mock trial and then sentenced her to 8 years and are now doing, god knows what to her. What’s your opinion on this?

Also, is this any different from the US gathering up people who we THINK are terrorist, throwing them into Guantanamo Bay, conducting “enhanced interrogations on them, and never charging them?

People often say that you shouldn’t discuss politics and religion at work and I often wondered why. I always felt that people should be adult enough to express their feelings and disagree without hating each other. Now I know that we cross some pretty dangerous lines with respect to these issues.

In a rally in Florida Gov. Palin began speaking about Obama and terrorist and someone from the crowd yelled “kill him”. She didn’t blink in fact, continued with her speech not even discouraging such behavior. The rally she held today the crowd began yelling racial slurs at the African-American members (called him a boy). Also the same happened at a rally McCain held. I understand we are all different, I understand we may not agree, but should be allow racial lines to be crossed and if we do what will it do to our country?

I have been reading a few of these posts I have read over and over people commenting that Obama is an elitist and racist. I have been following the campaign closely and I have not found any indication that he is either.

Obama’s mother is white and his father is black, so I was wondering who he is racist towards? In addition, what makes people feel like he is an elitist is it merely because he is half black and graduated top of his class from Harvard?
