I recently received two male African Grey Parrots in my home. They were brought from my grandparents house after a chimney fire, and were moved instantly to my home by people in the house who transported them in their cage. Upon arrival at my house, they were shivering due to the cold weather, and I put them in a sunny spot in the living room. I am not sure what their diet was before they came to my house, but I am sure it consisted of too much junk food. One of the birds talks frequently, but seems to be anxious. He tore off a great amount of his feathers, and I read that this was due to stress. This bird has also been shivering and hitting the bottom of his cage frequently upon being startled by small noises in the room. The other grey does not talk much, but has not been pulling out his feathers and is quite friendly (he lets me pat his beak). Knowing nothing about these birds other than what I've read online, I worry that I am not caring for them correctly. I do not let them leave their cage (We have cats, and since the birds do not belong to us, I'm afraid to risk it). I feed them leafy vegetales and broccoli, along with unsalted nuts and other vegetables. Any advice? I've dug through all sites looking for the causes of the first bird's odd behaviors.

I was listening to "Hook", by the Blues Travelers, and it was the first time I had heard that vocal technique. I was curious if there was a name for it. I know it isn't Vibrato.
