  • Secretary of State Investigation??

It was brought to my attention that an organization that I was with a while back (I resigned from my position and left the org a little over 4 months ago), has been brought under investigation by the Secretary of State in South Carolina.

I'm wondering how I would go about finding out if this is true, and if so, why the org is under investigation.

  • How do you "check out" a rescue, to make sure that it's reputable & ethical?

When dealing with animal rescue, there are good organizations and there are bad ones.

    1) What things do you, as a potential adopter/foster, look for when deciding whether or not you want to deal with a rescue?

    2) What questions do you ask the organization?

    3) What do you ask the public, or others who have dealt with the organization?

    4) What are things that you would consider to be "red flags" or signs of a bad rescue organization?

  • Cesar Millan says... What are your thoughts on the "Dog Whisperer"?

I watch the Dog Whisperer, and I'll admit that I do find some of his methods to be a good starting point. For the most part though, I think that Cesar Millan's show gives dog owners a false sense of confidence in working with their animals, which later can backfire and cause more problems than the original behavior did.

If a person tries one of his techniques, and it doesn't work, they are left wondering what went wrong, or thinking that Cesar is full of hooy. I personally wish they'd make the disclaimer at the beginning of the show a little bigger and really stress aloud the importance of this disclaimer. I think too, that rather than showing 3 different cases in one episode, it'd be awesome if they did a special or something where they followed this man through out an entire rehab program with ONE dog. This way people could see that it isn't all as easy as the show makes it out to be.

Yes Cesar has some wonderful theories, but people, that disclaimer is there for a reason.
