  • Which is more important, raising your kids or buying them things?

    Guess I'm feeling controversial tonight...

I'm curious as to why some people think they're failing their children by not working and buying them extra toys, and clothes, and snack, but their not failing them by handing them off on someone else everyday?

I'm not "knocking" working moms, in fact I sometimes envy them because as a SAHM I know for a fact that working a full time job would be a vacation compared to what I do now.

I'm not on welfare and don't get food stamps. I work some evenings and leave the kids w/ my husband and we live comfortably, but I do feel that people who are on welfare are unfairly judged. Childcare providers are paid (quite a bit in fact) because it's a JOB... so if you take care of your children all day is it any less of a job? There are government programs that give you vouchers to pay someone else to take care of your child so what wrong with taking care of your OWN and getting some assistance to do so?

People are so full of pride and selfishness that they've completely forgotten what's best for the KIDS!!!

  • Are you a vaccinator?

**This was an answer I just posted to a question and thought I'd maybe try to inform the uninformed and of course light a fire under a few of the vaccine N*zi's behinds until someone flagged me for deletion!

I hate to sound like an "anti-vaccine" spaz, but I do wish that people would at least research immunization before they let some doc inject their precious baby with toxins. Just some points to at least look at...

*Let's take the flu vaccine for instance, do you get it? Has it worked for you? Have you heard countless people say that they've actually gotten sick after receiving it? Have you? Have you NOt getten and NOT gotten sick and NOT died? It's not just the flu vaccine that's unecessary and innefective.

*"I got my vaccines and I'm fine"...pull up an immunization schedule from the year you were born, I guarantee there are at least 10 more vaccines on today's...have you been dealthy ill or died because you didn't receive these "new" vaccines?

*In a recent measles outbreak 4 of 5 of the kids infected HAD been immunized.

*Look at the specific vaccine, how serious is the disease vs. the side effects of the ingredients of the vaccine?

*Did you have the chicken pox? Did you die from them? You now have lifetime immunity, vacines wear off in 5 years. We're supposed to get boosters, most of us don't yet... we haven't gotten sick? Did we need it in the 1st place?

    * In a recent measles outbreak, 4 of 5 of the children infected HAD been vaccinated.

Please moms, for the sake of your babies, at least LOOK at the facts and whatever desicion you make, let it be a concious and educated one. Don't just follow along blindy with doc recomendations, vaccines and medicine are the biggesty business in the world, it's not all about "public health and safety".

**Disclaimer, there are definitely instances where the beneifts of a vaccine far outweigh the risks. In cases of high risks areas, poor hygeine/sanitation, weakened immune system, epidemic, etc. it makes sense to be vaccinated. In a small baby, immunizing them against Hep B (a sexually transmitted disease), probably not.

  • Voluntary Air Force family relocation?

Is there any way for an Air Force family to move back to their home of record w/o the member?

The spouse has extenuating circumstances but it does not qualify for Humanitarian Re-assignment. I know there's always the option of just leaving, but is there any way to get AF to pay for the move?

Also, if the dependents do move, will the member be able to apply for BAH for his dependents residence instead of his assigned base?

  • Vaccine Friendly Pediatrician in MD?

I just moved from San Diego, CA to Elkridge, MD and need to find a pediatrician who is open to a delayed/partial vaccination schedule. I had a great doc in CA and I can't seem to find one educated enough to to discuss or even consider vaccine safety. I'm willing to travel a little, if anyone knows of one please let me know!! Thanks!!!

  • San Angelo???

I'm going to be visiting my husband at Goodfellow AFB for about a month and I'm getting quite frustrated with the "small town" thing already.

I absolutely CANNOT find any apartment complex that will do a month to month rental, even the corporate rentals want at least a 3 month lease and I'd rather not pay $3000 to stay in a hotel for a month although it looks like thats gonna be my only option.

    Someone please help!!

  • Baby safe candy?

My daughter is newly intruiged with lollipops an I've been pretty much depriving her of junk food so far but would like to treat her every now and then... anyhow, I thought about sugar ree suckers but I do have some concern with the artificial sweetners used.

My question is does anyone know of a "baby safe" or all-natural type candy product that would be "better" fror her than traditional candy?

Researched and intelligent answers only please, I don't need opinions or answers that I could have come up with myself...Thanks!!!
