My DVD Player won't stay closed...?
Yesterday we just got a region free DVD player from a friend, (as we live in Prague and want to watch our American movies) who said that it might not work, because it was kind of having issues, but not major. Last night, we tried playing a movie, and it had an error about halfway through and spat it back out.
So this morning I went to go run a DVD lense cleaner disc. I put it in and closed it. It started loading, and then about 5 seconds later, spat it back out. I thought that it might just be the disc, so I put in another disc. Same. Exact. Thing.
We can't take it to a store or anything because we don't speak the language here. Any suggestions? Should we just give up, or is there any chance of saving it?

Hoping for hope,
In this difficult time,
Something to help me cope.
Trying to try,
For the sake of it,
Don’t really know why.
Wanting to want,
To feel, to know,
These things that haunt.
Living to live,
For death so bleak,
This reason I survive.
Writing to write,
To take some time,
In the words I delight.
A thought envisioned,
So impossible to explain,
A concept so complex,
I try to tell you in vain. (Makes me wonder if I’m sane.)
How can words express,
What I’m thinking,
This thought I suppress,
That I find so amazing?
Words tumble out of my open mouth,
Rambling, explaining,
I realize you don’t understand,
And then myself I’m restraining.
Keep it to myself,
I’ll no longer try,
Lay back upon the shelf,
That’s in the back of my mind.
Letting it loose,
Everything that I bear,
Sharing the news,
Of the burdens I wear.
Through the form of a song,
A lyric or two,
Or perhaps a poem,
From my pen it grew.
May sound quite strange,
Different, unique,
But this I must do,
Or through my lips they may leak.
Or perhaps not,
May sound quite the same,
As the people around me,
None may lay claim.
Pain much too immense,
Too fragile, too dense,
Too strong and too weak,
Too bold and too meek.
Everything it is,
Is everything it's not,
For this pain that is mine,
Is nothing I sought.
Dream the good dream,
Of death and despair,
Of life and life's love,
Take what you can bear.
Experience it now,
Take it in while it's there,
For when you wake up,
For what will you care?
Make dream your truth,
Your life's simply nightmare,
Give reason to living,
A reason to dare.
Overpowering, overwhelming,
This feeling of Love,
Consuming it slowly,
It's me It's devouring.
In the movies so sweet,
This vicious emotion,
But really It's cruel,
And It tends to cheat.
Simplicity gone,
In a life already harsh,
Complications stirring,
As we act as Love's pawns.
Plays It's cruel games,
For simple enjoyment,
Chooses us, selecting,
Upon who to lay claims.
So I warn you, beware,
Steer clear of this beast,
Stay far and stay wide,
If you care in the least.
Never ceases changing,
Continually starts anew,
Never starting nor ending,
Nor waiting for a cue.
Both beginning and end,
And middle as well,
In entirely,
Earth, Heaven, Hell.
Not universe alone,
But so, so much more,
For how can you define,
What's both peace and war?

2 AnswersOther - Arts & Humanities1 decade agoHow to deal with smoking?
I just moved to another country ( halfway around the world ) from CA, where there isn't too much smoking. Here, however, EVERYONE smokes. I don't like it when people smoke around me. I considerate rude and uncaring. Here, the employees are smoking in restaraunts while working. Instead of a smoking section, there are non-smoking sections. Occassionally. Now, as a I write this, in a cafe, I have a woman sitting next to me on her third cigarette. We're the only two people in the cafe. In a room off to the side. I was here first, when she came and sat next to my table, and started smoking. I don't speak the language. But, I want to know a way to politely ask someone to move or to stop smoking. Is there such a way?
(I've been trying to occasionally fan my nose, to let her know it's bothering me. Actually, I'm not trying to. I'm stopping myself from constantly doing it, and potentially embarrassing her.)
8 AnswersRespiratory Diseases1 decade agoDifference between Level 2 and Level 3?
Okay, what's the point of getting to Level 3. I mean, do you actually get to do anything else, besides answer more questions a day? When you get to Level 2, you can also rate people. Is there something similar for Level 3?

I need some tips. I recently recovered from a serious concussion that messed up my emotions and thinking. I also just recovered from depression brought upon me with my concussion. ( I still suffer from some of the effects of post concussion syndrome, though I got my concussion over a year ago.) So, I'm still emotionally fragile, but now I'm moving to the Czech Republic from California with my Mom, who is disabled. We can no longer afford to live here. I'm leaving behind my dad and half-brother, who just moved to Seattle with my ex-stepmother. I don't speak Czech yet, but most people there do. I have to give up my dog, who is my best friend, because the flights would be too stressful for her. I just need some ideas on how to make through this all and still stay sane, lol. Any ideas?
Sorry for all the confusing details.
3 AnswersPacking & Preparation1 decade agoNeed more music!?
I want some more bands. I listen to almost any type of metal, hard rock, soft rock, indie, eighties, swing, and a LITTLE bit of pop. I really like the Dandy Warhols, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, Jason Mraz, Children of Bodom, Trapt, Feist, Zero7, Atryu, B-52s, Beck, and Cake. Any suggestions of some music I might like? Please, no country or rap.
10 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoFoot cramps?
Okay, so I used to play soccer, and had for about 10 years. Now, because of an injury I have stopped, and have taken up different kinds of excerise to make up for it, mostly pilates. In a lot of the different poses, you have to flex your feet. Whenever I flex my right foot for more then 5 seconds at one period in time, I get a really painful cramp. I've tried drinking more water, and eating more bananas, because I've been told that it helps out with it, but it hasn't changed. Now, I'm not flexing my feet during stretches and excercises, but I can feel it taking away from the workout. Any ideas on how to make it stop?
