2 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoWhat do seagulls taste like?
Do they taste like chicken and fish? Or do they taste like rubbish dump? Are they even clean enough to eat?. They sort of look delicious. But God knows where they've been right?.
2 AnswersZoology1 decade agoIs it normal to see two satellites flying in tandem across the sky?
Last night I spied what looked like two artificial satellites flying west to east across the sky, at the same speed about an inch apart from my perspective. There are no space shuttle missions at the ISS that I know of so yeah. Huh?

2 AnswersSoap Operas1 decade agoCan electricity kill plants?
I get that sudden jolts causing fire or heat can damage or kill plants, but could you kill, say, a tree, with a large sustained current of electricity? (A bit like an electric chair or something)
2 AnswersBiology1 decade agoWhen insects eat hallucinogenic mushrooms or fungus, do they get high?
If insects don't have a complex enough brain chemistry to get high, do mice and rats eat them?, and if so, do they get intoxicated too? Does anyone know of any animals which selectively consume intoxicating fungi?
6 AnswersBiology1 decade agoWhat is the average lifespan of a Toyota Prius hybrid?
How many miles will the engine/battery do? What about the electric motor? I'm wondering if seeing as though a Toyota Corolla will last hundreds of thousands of miles, and several decades with care, whether a Corolla will be more environmentally friendly in the long term.

I have a variegated Ficus Benjamina, and a lack of sunlight has caused it's leaves to fall off. Will it come back to life if I nurse it in a sunny warm spot? Should I prune it? It's only about two feet high.

I have a 900mm reflector telescope with a manual powered mount, and would like to get into basic astrophotography. Should I just bring my telescope into the camera store and ask, or is it a bit more involved to get the right gear? Where should I go?

When I close my eyes and press down on my eyelids, I see hundreds of what look like interlocking squares and assorted polygons, along with various colors swirling around. I guess the colors are just my optic nervous system being interrupted, but why the weird looking shapes?

1 AnswerAnthropology1 decade agoAnyone care to speculate on these floating metal balls I found?
I found these red oxide colored balls and peanut shaped thingies floating amongst driftwood down at my local river mouth. They vary in size from pea to walnut size, have an outer coating of what seems to be a 1-2 mm thick layer of iron oxide, and a core of what looks like porous graphite or coal or something. The dust shavings from both the black centre and red crust are attracted to a magnet.

Is it more economical to take the light out of your fridge to save power? Or is that saving negated when you have to turn on the main room light at night to see inside the fridge?
1 AnswerEngineering1 decade agoHow much money would Nasa save if astronauts couldn't shave in space?
If astronauts weren't allowed to shave in space, how much money would Nasa save on its long term space station missions? Astronauts could still trim their beards with scissors but not shave wet, creating those inevitable floating shavings which must be expensive to manage.
