  • I need help picking out fish/aquarium/etc..?

I will be a completely new fish owner. So any help you can give will be much appreciated. II am getting this only for my son (who will be 2 in May and went nuts over a fishtank he saw at his doctors office yesterday). I will be honest in saying that I don't want something that's going to require a lot of maintenance on my part. meaning, I dont want to have to clean the tank once a week. Obviously.. I will feed the fish daily and do other things that are necessary. So.. going along those lines...

    Saltwater or freshwater?

What kind of fish would you suggest? (I would like some that are very colorful, but have no other preferences)

Aside from having a filter and a pump, what are some other things I can do to keep the tank as clean as possible?

How often does water need to be changed out?

How often do you need to feed the fish, and how much?

For a 10 gallon tank, about how many fish could I have in there?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Is this a good time to purchase a home?

I keep hearing that this is a buyers market and that if you are able and have the desire to do so, you should purchase your home now. I get that.

But my question... is this a good time for ME to purchase a home. I know NOTHING about the process. I talked to a realtor yesterday, who set me up with a banker, whom I talked with today, and he took all my information and is going to get back with me. I'm not even sure what he's going to get back with me on though. I'm guessing it's to get pre-qualified? I'm not even sure what all that means.

The realtor wants me to call him back once I get more information from the banker. But then what? We go look at houses?

One bank I spoke with (my bank actually) said that I would have to have 3% of the entire purchase price upfront, AND would also have to have 4-6k upfront for closing costs. She said it would end up being about ten thousand up front that I would need. The realtor has assured me this is not the case, and that my bank is just nit picky on how they lend their money.

So that's where I'm at in the process I guess. But here's the thing. I don't know how much money I SHOULD have saved up or what else I should do at this point. My car will be paid off next week (once I get my income tax refund, which I'm scheduled to get on Feb 3rd) and I will have about $1643 leftover (plus about $600 I already have saved) and so I could technically stay where I'm at and save the $350 a month I'm no longer having to put out on my car.

But I HATE my apartment. My neighbors are horribly rude and to be honest, I'm just tired of putting money into something I'm never going to own. Plus - I have an almost 2 year old who LOVES being outside. There isn't a single patch of grass in my complex. You step outside my apartment, and you're literally in the road. So I have many reasons for wanting a house.

But my mom keeps reminding me that I am single. I don't have anyone or anything to depend on. And if something goes wrong, I have nobody to help me financially. (Which.. let's face it, I have the exact same thing to worry about being in my apartment.. if I lose my job or something like that, I'm in the exact same boat essentially - either way I wouldn't have the money to pay my rent/mortgage). I understand what she means though. With a house.. there is more responsibility. No calling the complex handyman to come fix something. But I know many people who do home repair stuff just for fun, and they would help so long as I paid for materials, just because that's what they like doing in their spare time.

    Okay.. this is getting long.

    Anyone have any advice!???

How much money should one have saved up prior to purchasing a home?

  • Claiming childcare expenses?

My son's daycare has already provided me with a statement that shows what I've paid for the year, and also their FEIN. But my question is how much of that do you actually get back when you file your taxes?

  • Have you ever had your yahoo account deleted....?

and were you able to get it reinstated?

If so - how did you do it?

Yahoo deleted my account saying that I violated the TOS, but wont tell me what I supposedly did.

I explained to them that I KNOW I did not do anything to violate the TOS, and also that I *stupidly* had only been logged into yahoo from work and left it to where it kept my info stored. So it is possible that someone else went in under my name and said or did something (as I have yahoo answers in my favorites). Yes - that was my mistake, and I was probably just asking for trouble by doing that.. but I've been going back and forth with them since Tuesday trying to get my account back.

I have emails, and pictures from my son's dad that I'll probably never get back, even if they do reinstate my account.. but *ugh*.

Anyone know how to get your account reinstated?

  • I am so mad about this!!!!!!!?

I stay logged into yahoo at work through yahoo answers.(the whole check here to stay logged in for two weeks thing)

At home - I stay logged in through Trillian (messenger). (I haven't been able to check this yet, so I don't even know if I am still logged in there)

So I try to log into my yahoo answers account (I do have two yahoo accounts, but I only use one on a daily basis - which is NOT this one) and it tells me that my username/password is invalid.

Whaaaaat? The password is STORED, so surely it's not invalid.

    I keep trying.

    Ugh! same thing!

So I hit the forgot password link.

And... it tells me that my password cannot be reset online.

I have already searched yahoo answers - NOTHING that's been previously said works. (I tried emailing, calling - the number that is listed on several pages is not a working number - and I've done my own google search to try to figure out what this is) and nothing. Nothing.

    Nothing.

    Nothing.

Anyone else had this happen to them? What did you do?
