Should US soldiers be able to freely go to politically radical events?
A good example of this not being allowed would be when William Buwalda, a private second class in the US army, attended an anarchist meeting and listened to a speech by Emma Goldman, shaking her hand afterwards. Because he attended the meeting, he was court-martialed and served three years of hard labour at Alcatraz
What do you think? Should they be able to attend meetings of anarchists, socialists, communists, and other radicals? Should they simply be court-martialed and not have received a prison sentence for the offense? Should they receive the punishment that was given to William? Or do you hold a different opinion?.

Some responses to this question should be pretty entertaining.
8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy do many people on YA! seem to think that there is a dichotomy between Republican and Democrat?
It is also phrased as Liberal and Conservative
(yes I know liberal is not synonymous with democrat and conservative is not synonymous with republican. Just a trend that I noticed)
7 AnswersElections1 decade agoDo you think that Hollywood more often portrays America in a positive or negative light?
And why do you think this? If you can, post examples of things they portrayed that show bias, and also some examples of what they never touch can show bias.
6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy do people typically thumbs down my answers if I state that I am an anarchist and therefore a left winger?
Just an unusual trend that I have noticed, when I answer questions that are in similar to the format: "Why do left wingers _____________________" I answer "I am an anarchist, therefore I fall into the category of leftist" followed by my opinion on the subject my answers often get thumbed down.
Unusual I think, why do you think this is?
12 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs there a difference between kidnapping and arrest other than legality?
If so what is it?
I have heard many people say that arrests are for those who break the rules, but if you think about it many kidnappings have this motive as well (except for personal rules instead of government rules, both obviously enforced by violence and/or arrest/kidnapping) and then there are arrests that do not fall into the category of punishing someone for breaking the rules or stopping them. So I don't think this is a legitimate answer, at least not without further explanation.

2 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoWhy do so many Americans misstate parts of the Declaration as parts of the Constitution?
An example would be that many say things like "Read the constitution, it says that we all have the right to 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness'"
5 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat is your take on this action by the US?
On September 6th 1984 13 of 15 security council member-states endorse draft resolution S/16732 condemning Israeli actions in southern Lebanon and demanding immediate withdrawal. The US employs its veto to override them.
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhy did the United States bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki instead of accepting Japan's surrender or peace terms?
Especially because the one condition of their surrender was that the emperor of Japan would remain in at very least a figurehead position and after we received an unconditional surrender we never removed him from said position.
People often state that we had 2 options: 1. use the nukes or 2. Invade Japan. Why is it that so many people overlook the peace arrangements that were immediately struck down by the US and it's allies because of the policy of only accepting unconditional surrender? Surely accepting the peace arrangements that were laid out (of which the US and the allies were heavily on the favored end, during the end Japan's only noted condition was that the emperor must remain in a puppet position) would have saved far more lives than the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that so many view as "a brave act by Truman that saved MILLIONS of lives both American and many more Japanese."

27 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoSO have you forgotten?
Just curious if anyone remembers an event that occurred 65 years, 0 months, and 7 days ago. Yeah i am talking about Hiroshima it just seems like the only people who even care are the Japanese, and quit frankly it makes me kind of sick. So have you forgotten? And is enough being done to make sure it NEVER happens again?

1 AnswerPolitics1 decade agoIs there an error in the way most people look at the public vs private property dichotomy?
The way most people think of it they see public as government owned.
I see this as a problem because whilst the public pays for "public property" through taxes, they have little to none of the qualities that you would expect to see if they were indeed the owners of said property. The public has little to no control over government-run institutions, so is it really fair to call them public?
What does Yahoo Answers think about this?
