  • Donating your horse to zoos for big cat consumption when they are put down?

Sounds like a crazy question but after reading an article by a researcher at the university of md on the topic of Equine Disposal and the problems out there.. I asked her about donating my old horses, immediately at their death (or their euthanasia) to local zoos for big cat purposes. has anyone done this? I heard its done in Texas at some Big Cat sanctuary. The ultimate recycling...

  • Draft Horse Fun Show Classes- Suggestions?

Hey all. Don't know how many folks in my region are interested in Draft under saddle classes but we are planning a Draft Horse Fun Show. We also want to encourage the many folks who do other farm type things with their draft horses but don't do the fancy In-Hand or Pulling with their drafts. So that being said what about these kinds of classes:

    1. Equitation- under age 14

    2. Equitation- over 14

    3. Pleasure

    4. Low Hunter -fences up to 2.0

    5. Gamblers Choice

    6. Intro Dressage Test (Walk Trot only)

    Fun Classes like:

    7. Costume

    8. Egg/Spoon

    9. Barrel weaving

    10. Dollar Bareback

    More?

  • Draft Horse Jump Course?

I'm putting together a Draft horse Fun show with under saddle classes and need some suggestions about jump classes. (yes some people want a jump course!) Should I just offer very simple courses with 4-5 jumps, no in-and out difficulty? love to hear some thoughts.
