  • How high should a field shelter be for a horse?

I am constructing a DIY field shelter using timber, and I would like to know the best height for it. The horses that use it will typically be around 15-16HH, and the width and depth of the shelter will be 3.6m x 3.6m.

The roof will be sloping backwards from the front of the shelter, so what height should the front be, and what height should it slope to?

  • I'm making a framed, ledged and braced door, should I glue the panels together?

The doors are for a garage and are around 1.8m wide and 2.2m tall, and I have bought tongue and groove floorboards to use as panels. I have seen conflicting advice about whether or not to glue the tongues into the grooves.

Can anyone give suggestions based on experience or evidence?

  • Anybody have any suggestions for insulation in a house without a cavity wall?

Our house is pre 1900 and therefore does not have a cavity wall. It also has sloping walls upstairs and therefore the attic is only a crawlspace about 2 feet high.

It cost a fortune to heat last Winter (£1000s) and we need to find a reliable way to reduce this as much as possible and to stop the same cost again this Winter. Obviously budget isn't so much of an issue as it will be an investment if it works.

  • Can anyone suggest why fullscreen HD Youtube videos would stutter on my PC?

PC was built last year with top-of-the-line components at the time.

    Q6600 processor

    GTX280 graphics card

    4GB Corsair RAM

    Windows Vista Ultimate

Normal size youtube videos or half-screen HD videos are fine, but as soon as I switch to fullscreen (whether HD or not - but HD is worst) it can't handle it. Any ideas?

There doesn't seem to be any bottlenecking of processor usage or RAM usage when the video is running, but I'm finding it difficult to monitor, and don't know where to start trying to figure out if the graphics card is (somehow) the bottleneck.

Already tried disabling hardware acceleration within the Flash settings as that was one solution I found online.

Best answer will go to one of the following in this order:

    1) The person who disagoses the problem and/or tells me the working solution.

    If nobody does (1) then

    2) The person who suggests the best way to help me diagnose the problem myself.

    or

    3) The person who makes the most plausible suggestions

  • Does anyone have any suggestions for PC games that my wife might like?

She plays Sims 3 (previously Sims 2, and The Sims before that) all the time.

She's into Tycoon style games as well - for example she enjoys Tycoon City - New York and has enjoyed games in the past such as Hotel Tycoon and seemed to enjoy that.

I want to buy her more games she will enjoy, but the ones I've been buying lately haven't hit the spot. Does anyone have any suggestions?

By the way, I know that there are a list of Tycoon games available that runs into hundreds, but most of them are drivel! So I would appreciate recommendations of games people have played and enjoyed, preferably from women, or at least people who like the style of the games mentioned above.

  • Any ideas how to popularise my online game?

I've created an online caption game - www.captionthat.com

I admit it isn't perfect, but people do come on occasionally and play a game. The problem is that it needs 3 or (preferably) more people at a time to play. It gets the odd visitor or two (I think around 5 or 6 per day is the norm), but for people to play and enjoy it, it really needs to have at least 4 people in the game at one time, which isn't going to happen at rate of less than 100 people per day, for example.

Does anybody have any ideas how to increase traffic to the site (preferably other than paid advertising).

I just feel that if more people visited the site, more people would play and enjoy the game.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Is this GTX 280 graphics card a good buy?

It seems very cheap to me. Does it seem like a good deal from a reputable company?

  • Any suggestions for a motherboard with PCI-X compatibility and 6+ SATA ports?

    Hi,

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a motherboard with PCI-X compatibility and AT LEAST 4 SATA ports, but 6 or more would be ideal.

Also, I'd prefer Intel processor compatibility as most of my other builds are, but that is not necessary.

The only absolutely essential requirements are PCI-X compatibility and at least 4 onboard SATA ports.

Also willing to buy second hand, so doesn't have to be a 'current' model.

    Thanks

  • Where can I find and buy flower girl dresses by the designer 'Cinderella'?

We saw some dresses in TK Maxx that would have been perfect for our flower girls for our wedding in August. However, because it was TK Maxx, they only had a small selection of ages available.

They were by a designer called 'Cinderella', but a Google search for this brings up only a few ebay auctions, and the rest are regarding the Disney character.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy these dresses and be able to choose appropriate sizes for our flower girls?

Alternatively, if no-one can provide this answer, I will give Best Answer to someone who can recommend an excellent website for 'affordable' flower girl's dresses (below £30).

  • Is Whose Line Is It Anyway scripted or improvised?

I know it's meant to be improvised, but I have my doubts.

Opinions and evidence-based fact is appreciated here.

A good answer plus supporting evidence will get Best Answer.

    Thanks

  • Are there good alternatives to irc.msn.com out there for playing with mIRC scripts?

I used to go on irc.msn.com many years ago now. The great thing was that it was pretty unregulated and there were two different levels of channel 'host' as it was IRCX rather than plain old IRC.

Places like DalNet are OK but they're full of people sharing files. And things like ChanServ take the fun out of channel takeovers and such like.

Anyone (preferably people who used to use irc.msn.com) know of any good alternatives currently out there for script kiddies (at heart) such as myself?

  • I have an XFX GeForce 8800GTS. Am I better off downloading drivers from XFX or NVidia?

I downloaded the latest NVidia drivers from the NVidia website last time and wondered if I did the right thing. I realise that XFX will be supplying me with NVidia drivers as well, but in terms of getting the best compatibility, should I download the latest available from NVidia for the chipset I have, or download the recommended drivers from XFX?
