Shell32.dll error - User interface not found???
My laptop wouldn't start up this morning - messages came up about a shell32.dll error, and saying this device could not be found, and kept restarting but never booting up.
Eventually, the only way I could get it to do anything was to restore factory defaults and now my computer is as it was the day I bought it, which is NOT what I want...
Can I do a system restore to yesterday (when it was working fine), and if I do, will I mess it up again? What is shell32.dll?
Thanks in advance, it would be great if anyone could help :-)
2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoI had an interesting night last night, did you?
Looked out my window at 3am, to see one of two drunken revellers jumping all over my car and my neighbours' cars - four that I saw.
I ran out and sure enough, there was a BIG dent in my bonnet and two big dents in my roof, complete with footprints... my car is a little over one year old and cost A LOT of money - took me eight years to trade up to the level I'm at...
Once the red haze cleared from my eyes (!) I hopped into the car, tracked the ba*stards, phoned the gardai and continued to follow them (at a safe distance, I'm not completely stupid) until the squad car came and arrested him.
I went in today to give a statement, and heard that he admitted to everything, and agreed to pay the damages. Result!
My neighbours knew nothing until I told them, so I reckon we're looking at at least €1500 of a bill, excl replacement cars while the work is being done.
How was your night?
20 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoChristopher Paul Neil (swirly photo paedo) has been arrested in Thailand...?
That was a fast result, wasn't it? Doesn't seem so long ago that the swirly photos were circulated. I'm delighted to think he'll be behind bars for the next 20 years (if convicted).
What do you think, is it enough?
9 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoNow seriously, what's this about???

Have I just missed all the reports over the years of people being maimed by Christmas street lights? This is obviously a massive problem, otherwise, why would these ridiculously extreme measures be called for now? I evidently missed all the reports of street displays pulling chunks out of buildings too... I had no idea that these displays posed such a risk to public health and safety!
How many claims EXACTLY have been filed to justify the huge cost of insurance? Could anyone direct me to the statistics?

6 AnswersJokes & Riddles1 decade agoI'm soo lazy today - should I get up and do something, or stay on the couch, watching tv and stuffing my face?
I'm a bit wrecked after the week, and have another very busy week ahead, my kids are shaming me (they've been swimming, horseriding and are now swimming again), I'm busy lounging around and feel no immediate urge to get up.
The sun is blazing down here today, it's a fabulously clear October day, the nicest days of the year, so should I shift my behind and get out for a walk? You decide!

Financially, I mean? Have you budgeted for it, or will everything go on your credit card? How much do you allow per child?
I know, lots of questions for my 5 points, but I'm just trying to get my rear in gear and get a bit organised - for once!
10 AnswersPersonal Finance1 decade agoWhere's abc1 gone?
I'm in Ireland, and we've just noticed abc1 (ch 170) is no longer there, and we can't find it anywhere else.... where is it now?
5 AnswersComedy1 decade agoOk, this is a bit of a coincidence... or is it....?
My parents both died when I was young, and as a result my relationship with my extended family has been non-existent. I'm never in touch with relations, we meet every few years for half an hour at a funeral, that's about it.
Two days ago, a long lost American relative from my mother's side of the family called to my house (in Ireland), tracing her side of the family, and he was able to give me lots of information about my grandparents and great-grandparents and families.
Then, yesterday, a cousin from my father's side of the family rang me for the strangely bizarre reason that my great-grandparents' tomb is collapsing, so we all need to get it repaired... we had a long chat about grandparents and great-grandparents from that side of the family.
SO, my question: do you think it odd that both sides of my family should contact me within 48 hours of each other? I've learned more about past generations over the last two days than I did my whole life.
What would you think?

Now they have a tshirt - cost £10 for adult sizes and £6.50 for children.
That's a pretty good margin on a blank white cotton tshirt with a transfer.

There were four Irish passengers - three have been found, are suffering burns and one's in surgery, the fourth has yet to be accounted for.
I don't know about British passengers...

17 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoI brought home a bird last night (wish I could rephrase that, but I can't!), and need to know what to do...?
It's a manx shearwater, we think, the vet basically offered me two options - if it's wing is broken, she'll put it to sleep, if it's not broken, set it free after another 24 hours, then if it won't fly, she'll put it to sleep then.... not very interested obviously - she didn't even want to see it.
Any advice on any other options? Can I splint the wing or something? How do I find out if it's broken without distressing the bird? What do I feed it and how? It's got shredded fish and wild bird seed mix, but doesn't seem to be eating at all... HELP?!
10 AnswersBirds1 decade agoOk, so here's the thing - I have no oven or microwave, but I have a hob and some lasagne...?
Can I gently heat the lasagne in a saucepan if I stir it round and chop it up? I'm STARVING and have nothing else to eat - not even cereal!

8 AnswersBirds1 decade agoQ for those who think it's ok for the Fund to pay for Lawyers: Say the McCanns face child neglect charges?
Presume for a minute that they are not directly involved in Madeleine's disappearance, but are charged with neglect for leaving the three children unsupervised in an unlocked apartment on May 3rd... do you think they would be justified in using the Fund money to fight those charges?
