and Kobe is their franchise player, obviously, but why is it that the talk started up again that he's the best player....comparing him to MJ...etc...when Gasol was traded there?

I'm not, by no means, saying that Gasol is better than Kobe. What i'm saying is that the "talk" about Kobe went down a few levels UNTIL the missing piece of the puzzle was found [Gasol] and they starting winning games like crazy...and Kobe is back up there with Jordan again....who's giving any credit to Gasol....idk....what u all think?

since Dec. about a week and a half - two weeks before my period i have become constipated. Then last mnth my period was about 3/4 ish days early....this has never happened, so what could be causing this?

this is kinda embarrasing, but my period was earlier last month by like 4-5 ish days....this month its earlier by almost a week...it might not seem like a big deal, but i've been regular all my life...if any one knows why this might be, please tell me, i'm freaking out....

my right (kinda between my hip and rib are,) side hurts, not so bad that where i'm ready to cry or can't sleep. Its constant, but it doesnt really hurt unless i take a deep breath. i think it just because i have 'used the bathroom' in a few days (if u know what i mean), but i was just wondering if there is a certain side that hurts is something is wrong with your appendix. so can anyone clarify??

ok....i've been dating this guy for 7 months tomorrow....if you add the time in that we've been talking, its been a lil longer than a year...well...we havent been getting along for a while...idk know what i did to make him mad....i do everything he asks, like get him something to drink or w'e, i dont argue, etc.....i heard for a really close friend of his sisters that he might/is going to break up....then i asked his bf about it and he said that all he told him was he was upset.....but this is what i really dont get...I DIDN'T DO ANY THING!!!...all of my friends tell me i need to end it...but one of them, and he is my AND my boyfriend best friend... just, idk...what do i do??

Mike Vick is to plead guilty to dogfighting charges today. When he's walking into the court room, there will probably be protester's outside. Now I'm not for dogfighting in any way, shape, or form, but i don't understand why people are making this a bigger deal than when people was thought Kobe Bryant was accused of sexually assaulted a women. I mean come on, how many other rape/assault/etc. charges has been brought up in the past decade, and one of the biggest is Vick's dogfighting.

Maybe i just don't understand why people get this worked up when an animal is abused and not a person. Shouldn't we make a bigger deal if its were a person??

What would you consider makes a ‘perfect’ family? Society puts the image in our head that a ‘perfect’ family consists of plainly a father that is the, “bread winner,” and “stay at home” mom, and their children. In all reality, the ‘perfect’ family can consist of just one father or mother, no siblings or five, and they don’t even have to be related. As long as there is someone there to help one out from material possessions and security, to being a role model, help build character and emotional support. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, is a superb example of families.

To start with, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the Grangerfords is what society would consider a ‘perfect’ family. The Grangerfords come into the novel when they take in Huck, the main character, after his raft is hit by a steam boat. They provide Huck with all the essential needs in life: food, water, shelter, etc. One thing that they do not provide a great amount of is security. This is because the family is feuding with another, cause death on each side. “‘Has there been many killed, Buck?’” Huck asks.

“‘Yes; right smart chance of funerals. But they don’t always kill. Pa’s got a few buckshot in him…’” (p 105). Killing and feuding does not give good protection of children or set a good role model under any circumstances. Therefore, what society may claim is a ‘perfect’ family is wrong.

Secondly in the novel, Huck has several father figures throughout the book, one being Jim, a household slave. Huck and Jim get together when Huck is running away from his abusive alcoholic father, and Jim being a run -away slave. Jim first shows that he is like a father figure to Huck, when they go into a house and Jim notices that there is someone dead there. “‘It’s a dead man. Yes, indeedy; naked too…Come in, Huck, but doan’ look at his face-its too gashly,’” (p 50) then he covered him with a sheet so Huck would not have to look at him. When Jim says this it does this it shows that he is a caring person. As the book continues, Huck and Jim’s relationship grows.

To start with, Breast Cancer: Questions and Answers, answers many questions that young women may have and helps them be more aware of the latest information about breast cancer. It starts out explaining the basics of cancer, like what cancer is, who gets it, and “Improving Your Odds,” (pg 72). Next the book elucidates the diagnosis of and treatments for breast cancer. That topic leads to, “Coping When a Mother has Breast Cancer,” (pg 122) and, “Coping if the Battle is Lost,” (pg 140). The end of the book informs, “What’s in the Future,” (pg 146).

In conclusion, I feel that our school library should obtain the book Breast Cancer: Questions and Answers by Carole Garbuny Vogel. The book it is simple to read and is a superb source of information about Breast Cancer.

Okay, after the whole Knicks-Pistons thing, David Stern said that he was going to make the league better...well, get it to have a better reputation. Let me say that he is doing a terrible job.

To start with, Breast Cancer: Questions and Answers, answers many questions that young women may have and helps them be more aware of the facts about breast cancer. One fact that a young women can learn from this book is that the number one killer in America for women is breast cancer. Another fact that I learned from this book is, “One in eight women will get breast cancer, but that is not completely accurate…Your risk is now [considering you’re a your women] but it will rise as you age,” (pg. 52, Breast Cancer: Questions and Answers). Questions that is asked often are, “What are the risks?” and “How can the cancer be treated?”; the book answers these questions along with well over 100 others.

Lastly I believe that our school should get the book, Breast Cancer: Questions and Answers, not only because it could be used, for example, a research project in health, but because of that simple fact that young women are not fully aware of all the facts about breast cancer. One thing I learned from the book that I did not know before is that, “Drinking alcohol--beer, wine, or hard liquor--increases the risk of breast cancer, especially for women under the age of thirty,” (pg. 83). Another thing I found is that, “The bruising of a breast does not affect the chances of getting breast cancer,” (pg. 44). But the main reason this is so important, is the reality that almost everyone knows someone that has been diagnosed with this particular type of cancer. Personally, my grandmother has had it, and my great grandmother. Maybe if young women are more alert about the information, then the ratio of 1-8 could become less.
