  • What options do I have with my house?

I currently own a home in which I'm renting out. I eat about $350/mo on it after all said and done. I'm not behind on payments and haven't missed a single one. However, I would like to get out from under the house but property value is down about $25k+.

What options do I have with it? I could hold onto it and continue to lose money on it (although writing off interest each year, business losses and the small amount of equity I'm building I'm not losing too much). I could try a short sale, but I doubt my bank will give me that option as I haven't missed a single dollar of the mortgage. Could I sell it and get a loan for the remaining amount? If that is an option, could I get a mortgage? I don't think so as there will be no collateral.

I'm looking for options here. And no, foreclosure is not an option as I couldn't bring myself to stop paying on a home for no reason. Also, not worried about credit as the house is in my name only and any credit damage done will not effect my wife's credit.

    Thanks

  • How do I install a wireless driver in Ubuntu?

I recently installed Kubuntu 9.04 onto my Toshiba laptop. I have a Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN wireless car in there, but I had to download the driver on another computer and transfer it via USB drive because the laptop currently does not have internet.

The driver I downloaded is here...

    http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/?n=Downloads

So now I have Kubuntu on a laptop, the TGZ file on a USB drive in the laptop, how do I install it now?

Any other tips to get the wifi working would be awesome as well. Thanks!

  • My 18 month old son throws wild trantrums. What's the best solution to stop these?

We've tried light spankings and time-outs. The time-outs seem to stop him and makes him think. We do them for 1 minute at a time... no playing, no laying (only sitting) and the time doesn't start until his tantrum stops. He's getting better with stopping once he's in time-out, but how do we prevent them all together?

I've a wireless network. My laptop runs Vista while my desktop runs XP. I can easily access my files on my laptop (Vista) and they're password protected... How do I do that with my XP machine? I've got simple sharing, but when I access my desktop from my laptop I want to have to use a user and password.

    Any suggestions?

  • Are there any programs to assist members of the Armed Forces sell their home when they PCS?

I'm about to PCS to a new location and I currently own my home. Because of the market I have to either rent it out cheaper than I pay monthly or do a short sale. Either way I am going to lose horribly on my house because the Army is PCSing me to a new location.

Are there any programs to assist Soldiers PCSing and needing to do something with their house?

  • What car stereo system should I get? Specs?

I have an 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I'm satisfied with the stock speakers but I want a bit of thunder. I don't know crap about car audio, though.

What I am thinking I would like to get is a single 12" sub and amp to go in the back. Since I listen to a lot of rock and country, what would you recommend I get? What specifications? Brands?

  • Does the Army authorize liposuction?

I've tried everything to lose this little bit of belly on me. It's really not much, I just want the six pack to show through. I've been dedicated to a diet and workout routine for several months now.

My question, does the Army authorize liposuction? I'm not asking if they pay for it, I got that, but do they authorize it?

Also, what is the recovery time for midsection lipo? How long before I can start rocking out some sit ups once again?

  • Where can I see the trashman video where he boasts about spreading AIDS?

This is just horrifying that someone would have the audacity to commit such acts. The video itself isn't such a bad offense other than it invades privacy, but the act that someone could do that.

I've read about it, but I haven't seen it. All the youtube videos in the news always get taken down before I see them, so I'm just curious if anyone knows if it's located anywhere else.

  • How do I stop p2p on my network?

I have other computers that need to connect to my computer so they can access internet. It's an Ad Hoc network. But they use p2p programs and will not stop.

What can I do to stop this? Block ports? Block apps? But how in Windows Vista? I can't find any port blocking in Vista.

  • What US cell phone providers offer sms to email capabilities?

I've looked all over but found minimal on this. I would just like a list of carriers (cell phone providers, companies) that allow their users to send email via sms or text messaging.

  • How do I tell what my domain name's IP address is?

I had a domain name set as my name server... That domain expired. But now the other domains that were using that name server cannot be linked to the server and don't work. So I need to know how to find what the IP address was when it was working. Is there a website that caches that stuff or something?

  • I'm looking to buy a Creative Zen, but which one?

I went to Creative's site and compared the Zen Vision:W, Zen Vision:M, and the Zen Vision. All are great.

Basically, I want something that has at least 30GB (they all do), play video, pictures, lots of music and can be used as a external hard drive in a sense. Can all of them do that?

I'm going to Iraq for a year, I need something that will keep me occupied during the down time.

Anyone have any experience in these?

  • Wearing blues to my wedding, do I wear the bow tie?

Okay, first and foremost, this is NOT the place for your opinion on my career I've chosen. If you're appreciative of what I do, well thank you... It's citizens like you that make my job great. If not, great, keep it to yourself.

Back to the question... Okay, I asked should I wear my Army A's or Blues, I own both. Everyone said blues. Okay, that works.

But what about the undershirt? Is the only authorized undershirt the white button down with the bow tie? Maybe I'm in left field here, but I just want this to be right.

Okay, one last addition... If you come in here saying that the military is the lowest pool of citizens, I will prove on the contrary. I'm on officer in the US Army with a degree in Aeronautical Computer Science... I have Soldiers under my command with degrees as well, but they simply choose to fight for your freedoms. We don't choose our wars, the only choice we made was to ensure YOUR freedom.

    Heh, that is all.

  • If I'm deploying and I have orders, can I get out of a phone contract?

I have Sprint right now and I have about 1.5 years left on contract with them. I absolutely hate doing business with them. I'm set to deploy this summer, can I get out of the entire contract with orders? I know they have a plan that they'll hold the line and continue when I get back, but I don't want to... Can I get out of a contract? Is there a law somewhere for this?
