  • My mom's house is facing foreclosure. I want to help...?

but I do not have enough credit history to get an unsecured loan. We basically need $6000 to postpone the problem...$16,000 to fix it.

I plan on graduating from school in two years and will have a career to pay off any debt I accumulate now. I was considering applying for a credit card from my bank to transfer over the $6000 balance. I would have 1% interest for the first year then variable 9-20% after that.

I appreciate any input on the credit card decision or any other suggestions to raise some cash. selling the house is by far our last option...but we are past many deadlines, and dont have much time to figure things out.

  • What career options do I have? Is there a site with careers listed relating to my fields of interest?

If everything goes as planned, I will graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in mathematics with a minor in physics, as well as a BSBA in both finance and accounting. I am trying to collect as many opinions as possible, as it seems that trusting one person (my college advisor) to help plan my future may not reveal all options available to me.

  • Is it at all possible to have windows use a straight through cable as a crossover cable?

I need a crossover cable to connect my xbox to my laptop. All I have, though, is a straight-through cable. Can I configure my network connection to somehow auto-crossover so I can avoid purchasing a new cable?

  • How much should I charge for math tutoring?

I am a senior in the math department at the University of Pittsburgh, and I have lots of experience with volunteer and paid tutoring. I want to start tutoring math on my own, and am not sure what the market price for tutors are in the Pittsburgh area. I am willing to tutor at any math level from elementary school through undergraduate high-level courses.

I was thinking around $30 for a 45-min session, with perhaps a special deal at 4 sessions for $100. Does this sound reasonable? Should I charge different amounts for different levels of math, or charge one flat rate?

  • Trisecting the angle?

I know the algebraic proof that it is impossible to trisect an angle using an unmarker straightedge and compass (essentially that cube roots are not constuctible). However, I cannot find the flaw in this method on the website below. Can anyone help?

  • Vista Problems?

I am having four problems with Vista, and can use some help.

    1. The wireless network icon in the system tray says I am disconnencted even though I am fully connected.

    2. The Network and Sharing Center is not functional, and immediately freezes up on me.

    3. Windows Security Alerts keeps popping up sayng that I don't have virus protection or Windows defender enabled, but they both are.

    4. My MP3s stopped working. In windows media player I get a C00D11D2 error, which says, "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

Norton, Ad-Aware, and Windows defender are all up-to-date and find nothing wrong with my system, and the MP3s do not work iin any folder, as I have tried to move them (they are just on my C drive).

  • Should I be mad at my girlfriend?

My girlfriend from college went home for christmas break. She went out with her friends who got her drunk and she kissed some other guy, she assures me it was harmless. I have a tendancy to overreact, so what would be an apporpriate way to deal with this?
