My favorite things are football and blogging about it all over the internet. I discovered the football section in answers and have recently began spending time here as well! My favorite teams are the Oklahoma Sooners (best team to exist!) and the Kansas City Chiefs.I have been an Oklahoma fan since I was born, and went to my first OU game before I was a year old. I attend several games a year, and only have 2 years left on the season ticket waiting list!!!! I am a 4 year Season ticket holder at Arrowhead, and love to tailgate in KC! It's the best on the planet!

  • OU/Texas. The True greatest rivalry!?

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,296466,00.html

Has anyone seen this story? An Oklahoma fan basically neuters a Texas fan with his bare hands for walking into a Norman bar wearing a Longhorns shirt.

If I were on the jury, I could not find him guilty. I have a reasonable doubt that Texas fans have balls!

My question is. (Yes, there is an acutal question) If this is going to happen, how can Oklahoma Texas not be declared the best rivalry in college football?

  • Best Fantasy Football team name?

I cannot decide what to make my primary team name, So I am going to put it out for popular choice. The choices are:

    A. Grape Pop makes me Fart

    B. Longhorn:It's whats for Dinner

    C. The Chiefs and Chongs

    D. Shamwow:Cleans Hooker blood.

Bonus Question that has nothing to do with Football: That commercial with the catheter lady came on. Not to make too much fun or anything but.....why does she need to cath all the time? Seriously, it's eating at me...I have to know!

  • Kansas City Fans: Lets talk D shall we?

I realize it has been about a decade since we have had one, with the defense getting seemingly worse and worse each season. But last season we got suprised two times over by a couple of rookies named Brandon Carr and Brandon Flowers, the starting cornerbacks.

I realize we are transitioning to the 3-4, keeping in 4-3 under plays to ease the transition...but still I wanna know

My questions are: How improved do you think the Kansas City DEFENSE be? (because O is not the problem there, we scored with Thigpen) and considering how well Carr and Flowers performed and having Page as a saftey, how much of the defense do you think will be built around the secondary, Or will they hit a bit of a sophmore slump?

Remember, KC's defense last season was a top ten defense in takeaways, having 29 total on the season. (The leader was the Ravens at 34, only 5 more than KC)

  • ESPN Fantasy Ranking...?

ESPN has put out the 2009 Fantasy projection rankings. For those who have not, they can be found at

    http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/tools/projections

As of today, how accurate/inaccurate do you think ESPNs projections are, and where did they get it right and get it wrong at?

The more you support your answer, the more I am going to like it.

  • Who will pull the worst to first act?

"Worst to first," is the trendy new saying that describes an NFL team that goes from being last in the division to being the first. Miami did it last year, and while Atlanta and Baltimore did not win their division, they made the playoffs as a wildcard and the Ravens were in the conference championship game.

These were the teams that finished last place in thier division from last season. Of these teams, which one do you think is most likely to be able to turn it around and pull the same time of worst to first rise, or worse to playoff caliber team?

    NFC-

    Rams (west)

    Saints (South)

    Lions (North)

    Washington (East)

    AFC

    Kansas City (West)

    Bills (East)

    Browns (North)

    Jacksonville (South)

Note: I love details, and while I hope and believe in my fans heart that Kansas City can pull the worst to first in a insanely weak division.

The honest football fan in me believes that New Orleans and Jacksonville are the two most likely teams to pull a "worst to first" or "worst to playoffs" run.

  • 3rd Overall Pick for Fantasy draft?

The fantasy league where I work has just expanded to 12, and I am now in it as the 3rd overall pick. Assuming that Peterson and Turner are taken, what direction do I go in? (This is a yearly draft league, not a keeper) we are drafting the first of August, but it is never too late to get a head start.

When drafting this high, I would normally take a running back, because I have two RB slots 2 WR slots and a flex, but I would probably end up taking a reciever in the 2nd, unless Brees is on the board.

    Thoughts?

  • Can Oklahoma and Texas fans get along?

Well, get along well enough to put all bias aside, seriously think about the question, then answer it. (I guess any school with a rivalry of this magnitude with a conference championship game can also answer this, but state your team and your rival)

First of all: Taking away divisions within the conference, would you not agree that Oklahoma and Texas were the top two teams in the Big-12 last year?

Second of all: How many of ya'll felt cheated out of an Oklahoma/Texas rematch for the conference title?

Thirdly (yes, I made that word up!): Why won't the Big-12 do this? Schedule exactly as it is done now, then let the top two teams of the conference go at it.

Number 4: Since OU/Texas is currently the best rivalry (yeah, sorry Florida/Georgia...OSU/Michigan...your rivalry isn't as good :P) Wouldn't it only benefit the schools and the Big-12 to set it up where the possibility exists that there would be a "grudge" match for a championship on the line? (If Mizzou and Kansas wanna get OU/Texas good, they could have the same thing too...Oh..but ya gotta get past OU and Texas first..good luck with that..)

Fifth: Do you believe the BCS would ever fall so that OU/Texas would ever play against each other for a National Title? I mean, we all know the BCS is crappy and a stupid way to figure it all out, but....its what we have to live with, but, would they really "allow" it if the final polls all fell that way?

Lastly: What half of the rivalry do you belong to? I belong to the half that actually wins Championships. BOOMER!

  • Kansas City Chiefs. How are they doing/Weird conspiracy theory?

First of all. I believe the Chiefs can win ten games next season. They'll pull this seasons worst to first act. While yes, I am a fan, I can honestly see them going 6-2 in the AFC West (losing to Oakland and San D on the road.), winning against the Bills, Bengals, Cleveland, and at Jax and also possibly winning either Washington or Dallas.

To do this, KC would have to win the last five games of the season. If Kansas City is achiving this, what is the possibility the NFL would flex one of their last homes games vs Buffalo/Denver/or Cleveland onto Sunday Night football?

I think this way because, yeah, I am a fan. Only fans of KC care about the team, so hence the questions anyway. Of course I would be horribly wrong, and they will suck again this year, but its the off season, all teams are tied right now :P

I believe they are trying to build a team that can begin winning now.

So, fellow Chiefs fans, do you feel the new organization is doing? How much are you reading or buying into the Pioli/Haley era? Is there anyone out there who is as overly optimistic as I am? What are they going to have to do in your mind to make the same kind of one season turn around we have seen other teams making recently?

Now to my conspiracy theory question: Does anyone think that one of the reasons Cassel has yet to sign a long term deal is because of the possibility that the new coaching staff is going to take this year to further devlop Thigpen into a potential starter? (I don't know why, but I am emo for Thiggy!)

  • Kansas City Chiefs. Now What?

First of all, as a Kansas City fan, I was not totally thrilled with the Cassel/Vrabel trade, even though it was just a 2nd round pick. I don't think the defense is going to be fixed with a 34 year old linebacker and a one year QB wonder to heal our offense? Thank goodness he wasn't signed to a big deal! And after this big media trade, the Chiefs have done pretty close to nothing in the FA besides sign "Roster fodder" who will be lucky to make the team. They haven't even officially named a defensive coodinator!! Now Todd Haley has said he is going to have open QB competition between Thigpen and Cassel? I just think thats a lie said to appease KC fans. Haley has already upset our only Pro Bowl player that didn't want to leave KC. Nothing has been done to get rid of Larry Johnson, or to keep Tony G. Am I expecting too much to want to see a 9-7 season from my team? Am I being unrealistic, or are there other Chiefs fans that are disappointed with Haley/Pioli?

  • Tyler Thigpen the real deal?

Kansas City is a team in rebuilding mode. However, they planned to rebuild their offense around Larry "O.J. Simpson wannabe" Johnson and Brodie Croyle. Croyle has proven to be a china doll, Tony Gonzales will be leaving the team, and Larry Johnson has shown that he can spit as good as Pumpkin on I love New York.

Then, Tyler Thigpen comes onto the scene, Kansas City has changed to a spread offense, and in three weeks they moved up from being the 31st ranked offense in the NFL to the 26th. I believe he could be the future of the franchise, especially if Herm Edwards were to get fired and they brought in a more offensive minded coach.

Should Kansas City make him the starter for next season? Will Herm be willing to quit being so conservative and coach a pass first offense? Or should they take the top 5 first round pick they will have to get a quarterback, or will they try and trade down to find a TE to replace Tony G?

I personally think they should release Huard, sign Thigpen to a decent 3 year deal, try and trade the China Doll Croyle for a linebacker or a draft pick. Then if that doesn't work out, there are several quarterbacks they could pick up in the draft class after next.

I also think the defense for the Chiefs looks great AT TIMES, and horrid after halftime! Are these flashes of brilliance the Chiefs D show, especially in the secondary, a hint of things to come, or are they doing that to give me false hope? My dream is that the Chiefs are better than at least Oakland next season!

  • How to ease my puppies itching?

I recently adopted a rescued collie/shepard mix from our local pound. After having her for about 3 weeks (and getting her over a horrible case of kennel cough) I have noticed she is starting to itch herself like crazy! There is some hair loss around her eyes and mouth, and I am thinking it could be a case of puppy mange. Having had experience with this before, I made an appointment with my vet so she can be put on medicine to clear it up, but I can't get an appointment until Wends. afternoon. Is there anything I can do to help relieve her itching until then? I thought about giving her benedryl, but don't know if that will work because I think the itching is related to the mange, not allergies
