  • Vista No UK Keyboard?

Not a big deal but my keyboard is a UK variety but I cannot change from United States format via Windows. @ and “ are reversed and number keys have to be used for the pound sign - Alt 0163. The OS is 64-Bit Vista.

Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, Format correctly has English (United Kingdom) and Location is United Kingdom. Keyboard and Languages only has a Change Keyboards button and, on selecting this, Default input language is blank as is the installed services box. Selecting the Add button also shows a blank box.

I have dowloaded and tried to install a compatible additional language as described in:

    http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/libr...

This indicates “If the parent language is not installed, then installation will not continue and you will be prompted to install the parent language” but that did not happen. I also created a UK keyboard via Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator - MSKLC, but that would not install. Yes, these were Run As Administrator.

Although it does not appear to Best regards relevant, changed Registry Settings as per:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927824

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters also had a KeyboardFailedReset entry but I can’t find any information about that.

    Can anyone help?
