  • bill of material; what is it called when it is the actual list of materials used in die assembly?

we're into mould/ die making, and i can't seem to find the right term for this....

bill of material: this term is used and released by design (r&d), which consists of materials to be used in die making for that certain die...

but what is it then called, after assembly? like the actual bill of material, meaning the actual items or materials used to manufacture and assemble the die?

we are planning to compare the design BOM (bill of material) with the actual materials used, to compute for actual and estimated costs...

anyone know what it should be called? i'm thinking it's not just "actual BOM"...

    thanks for any help.

  • convert ordinary car cd player stereo for mp3 capability...?

hi guys. i know this is wierd, but i think it's not impossible... i have a car stereo that plays CDs, audio CDs. however, i would like it to be able to play MP3 cds... what should i be looking for or replace on my car stereo head unit?

basically, here's my analyzation to it... audio CDs are played on a cd player by having some sort of microprocessor that can read basic audio files, and convert them to electric signals which in turn equals sound... right? so, if i were to purchase a micro processor with the same size and pinouts as the old one, but this time, either it's pre programmed to be able to read not just ordinary CDs, but also MP3 CDs, then they could also process mp3 files and convert them to audio output, right??? or, we can just flash the current microprocessor with another program that is mp3 capable, then we now have an mp3 ready cd player... is this right?

if so, then how do i go around this idea? i don't even know how to start... hehe. actually, i would just like to have my car stereo play mp3 CDs... and i don't have the pocket to buy a new head unit that's mp3 capable...

    help??? suggestions?

  • best software for cd catalog?

hi. i'm wondering if there's a software that'll meet my requirements for this...

i'm planning on making product catalogs burned into CDs, however, to give out to clients... however, i would also like to be able to update the CDs which are still with me (like if i burn extra copies), that way the old CDs won't have to be thrown away everytime i have to make an update to my products... maybe if i have a software that would help me make the catalog, then a folder where all photos and data will be placed, that way when i have new items, i just add them to the compilation of the folder. And when i run the catalog from the CD, everything will be there, including the new ones...

this way i get to update anything, at anytime....

just need to have a few fields which can take user input, like product code, description, usage, etc.

  • substance which solidifies, when solid, has hight thermal conductivity and can withstand high pressure force?

is there any substance or composition that i can use to substitute to our steel mould making process to avoid machining steel to make rubber vulcanization moulds? instead, i could make these moulds in the for of casting them to produce te mould? i would like to find any substitiute for metal, which has high thermal conductivity and can withstand the pressure for vulcanization without breaking. this would help me produce custom made moulds for custom jobs, instead of spending time in machining steel to make a mould for a part... i was thinking something like, having it in liquid form like cement, then just pour it into a part, to produce a negative/ cavity... then when it solidifies, i just pull out the part... then use the mould to produce or vulcanize a almost replica part... or at least, lessen the machining for it... that would make our product development faster.... any help guys? need high thermal conductivity or at least same as steel... that's the most important factor....
