  • anyone has experience with myelomalacia?

I just did MRI. The report shows that I have myelomalacia and spinal cord compression at c3-6. Xray shows that the posture of my neck is not normal, it curve inward instead of outward. So this explains the numbness and strain on my neck and arm which I have all my adult life. I did not recall any serious accidents. so, anyway, I had seen 3 doctors so far, started with neurologist, who referred me to an orthopedic surgeon and today I met a neuro surgeon, all three suggest there is no other options but surgery - fast. Now, I told them the pain is still bearable, I can walk, run, do anything now, I am not taking any medication. My biggest worry is that I end up quadriplegic after the surgery. The doctor said the chances is rare 1-2% but it happened. The neurosurgeon actually said that my case is bad and he had not come across anything like mine before. Any information or experience is much appreciated. I am also wondering whether chiropractic treatment can be considered or will it do more damage. The fluid surounding the spinal cord at c5-6-7 is basically none, so there is basically no protective layer present. I am 47 and I am considering to wait for another year and do another MRI and see how the problem progress. The thought of having a metal plate fusing all 3 vertebrae is excruciating - not to mention the pain. help!!

  • free maps for Garmin Nuvi 610?

I recently purchased the device and need to know where can I download free Europe, Australia and/or USA maps. The price given by the dealers for these maps is very expensive, I could almost purchase a new device if I decided to buy all 3 maps. Since I purchased this model in Asia, I only have the preloaded Asian maps preinstalled in the device.

  • my daughter wants to do volunteer work at costa rica. What should I do?

Well she is turning 19 soon and just joined the uni this year. Plus we are living in the opposite side of the planet. Frankly the whole idea freak me out! It is not actually free, we have to come up with own travel arrangement, air tickets, visas, health insurance coverage, travel insurance.....program cost etc.

  • Anyone over 40?

Its just that I find life over 40 is just like starting over. Now that the children are away, I have more time to do things for myself. On the other hand, there is just no excitement anymore to meet people. I find it harder to feel connected to people at this age. Or maybe it is hard to find someone whom I can relate too....am I being too choosy? well, can't help it....
