  • Please HELP... Physics Circuit Problem...?

    If you have two batteries (each emf of 1.5V) connected to each other followed by a wire with a thin wire that has a length of 0.56m and a diameter of 0.00025m followed by a thick wire of length 0.15m and a diameter of 0.00035m and back to the batteries.

    What is the electric field in the thin wire? What is the electric field in the thick wire?

    What I know so far...

    I know total potential difference has to = 0

    Or, in other words, V[1] + V[2] + .... = 0

    So for this problem,

    V[thin] + V[thick] + V[battery1] + V[battery2] = 0

    so, (-E[thin])(L[thin]) + (-E[thick])(L[thick]) + (1.5V) + (1.5V) = 0

    I think cross-sectional area has no play in this...

    Mixing the formula up,

    (E[thin])(0.56m) + (E[thick])(0.15m) = 3V

    I believe this so far is correct...

    Now I don't know how to figure out how to find E[thin] and E[thick].

    First I tried doing the formula E = emf/L for each.. the answers were wrong.

    Second, I tried doing a ratio by length... and the answers were wrong.

    This is my final chance for the online submission. If someone could please tell me how to do this... I'm not expecting you to do my homework just give me advice into leading me into the correct direction.

  • Do you feel black people half a sense of self-entitlement?

    Not trying to be racist... but I believe most black people give off this attitude. They feel they are always being discriminated and bring up the whole we used to be slaves.

    I myself am a minority. And as an Asian-American I don't feel self-entitlement for the railroads nor do I get the benefits of affirmative action. I'm not even considered for affirmative action.

    Why does the brightness of a bulb not change noticeably when you use longer copper wires to connect it to the battery?

    Very little energy is dissipated in the thick connecting wires?

    The electric field in connecting wires is very small, so emf E(bulb)=L(bulb)?

    Electric field in the connecting wires is zero, so emf = E(bulb) L(bulb)?

    Current in the connecting wires is smaller than current in the bulb?

    All the current is used up in the bulb, so the connecting wires don't matter? I know for sure this cannot be correct.
