FADEC components and functions?
I am currently putting together a powerpoint presentation for a class on Thursday. My topic is FADEC (as the subject implies). I still have one question unanswered though... How does the throttle resolver take its output and send it to the FADECs on board. Turbine engines use RVDTs and alternating current so I can only assume most single-engine FADEC equipped airplanes maybe use LVDTs or something similar. Can anybody who has seen this stuff or maybe a person who pilots a FADEC aircraft elaborate and provide a link? I have been to many places on Google and scholarly databases and found next to nothing. Thanks in advance.
2 AnswersAircraft1 decade agoOil catch can and 2003 Dodge Neon SXT?
I just put an oil catch can on this to keep oil and blow-by out of my engine and after the install I noticed a very audible hiss coming from the new fuel emissions lines. I can pinch the PCV plumbing anywhere in the network and the engine dies which tells me there are NO leaks. Has anybody else had a similar experience with or without problems? I have never heard or read of catch cans and plumbing creating noises.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoMaintenance test pilot questions....?
Hello to whomever reads my question. I have about a year and a half left in college with very little flight experience but am very interested in getting into maintenance test piloting. I will graduate with A&P certificates and a private pilot's license at the moment. I will obtain my instrument and commercial along with the multi-engine in a few years shortly after graduation.
If you have any experience or know of anybody with experience with this type of flying or qualifications would you be willing to post what you know? I will start asking some of the more seasoned faculty at school and reading around the internet. Any replies will be GREATLY appreciated!
1 AnswerAircraft1 decade agoSingle Pilot IFR flying?
Im in a Part 141 Flight School right now and almost finished with the instrument rating coursework. Since the regular fall semester began things dont seem to be going as well as the summer semester was as far as flying is concerned. I'm trying harder and being tasked with more things as well as trying to maintain the PTS standards outlined. I can sit all day and talk about reading an approach procedure chart, when I would try and do what, and whom to talk to, and how to continue flying if I were to lose communications, and dealing with vacuum failures. The real issue is when I get in the airplane and hear at least seven different things going on along with flying, monitoring, and navigating, I seem to get 'mentally' bogged down. I asked my instructor something along the lines of "What am I doing TOO MUCH of and what MORE could I be doing?" and he pretty much just said he didnt know.
9 AnswersAircraft1 decade agoHow would an individual go about suppressing any and ALL negative emotions?
I am in school right now and my biggest problem that I am having is myself and my frustration which leads to negative emotions that I wish I could just throw in the trash can like an old food container. If I could just STOP these things in their tracks, it would make life so much easier. I would prefer to read responses from people who have a similar experience and use effective techniques to accomplish their goals. Counseling is not what I wish for because they want to find the source of the problem as I just want to make it stop and not interfere with my daily activities. I understand that in order to do this you must stop feeling the goods as well as the bad ones. Thats fine because good emotions do not hinder me such as the negative ones. I await intelligent replies.......
