  • If you celebrate May Day where are you from?

As children in the 80s we used to celebrate May Day by bringing baskets of flowers and candy to the neighbors and ringing the doorbell and running. We did this every year. I grew up in a suburb of Denver, CO. Anyways I don't think any of the neighbors used to do this before us. Now that I moved no one has ever heard of it. It doesn't seem like that many people practice the May Day basket tradition anymore.

Anyways I was wondering if any part of the country still celebrates it. Also do you know more of the history about the holiday. My family is from Hutchinson, Kansas.

    Thanks

  • Advice about a 2 year old with a small vocabulary arguing with me about words?

My toddler boy who just turned 2 knows about 20 words. He communicates well but everything is 'ball' for example.

He just learned the word 'apple' so every fruit is 'apple'. We were carving a pumpkin during Halloween and I said this is a pumpkin. Then he says 'apple'.

Any suggestions about what to do when I name something and he says another name?

  • Can your breast milk not produce enough nutrients?

I just went to the doctor and found out my 15 month did not gaining weight at the last appointment.

He is eating solids three times a day and breast feeding every two hours (even at night).

The doctor said I don't have enough nutrients in my brest milk and wanted me to switch to formula or to supplement after every feeding.

I've never heard of breast milk not producing nutrients. I know my son is getting milk because he is gulping when he is nursing.

One thing I thought of is I was pregnant for two months and miscarried the baby on Jan 1st (of this year). Can milk turn into colostrum if you miscarry?

Thanks for any help that you have.

  • What was the first video game that one could actually beat/finish?

So my husband and I were talking and I think I know the answer but then I tried to find it on the internet and couldn't find anything so I thought I would try here.

What was the first video game with an end screen? In the 80s most games were like space invaders and would just keep on going and going and there was really no way to beat it because the game just got harder and harder or would just loop like most of the car racing games.

So what was the first video game that you could actually finish?

  • Filling out a job application what do you write on work performed for a restaurant job?

I'm filling out a job application and I've come to the work history section. I've been a waitress and I'm trying to fill out the work performed section. It seem obvious to me what a waitress does so I don't know what to put on the application. Do I say took orders and brought food to tables?

Please give me ideas of what I should put for the Work Performed section.

  • How to get to Folkestone to Paris?

I've never been to Europe and trying to plan a vacation. On August 1st I need to get from Paris to Folkestone. I need to get there by 3PM so it can't be a two day trip. I saw Eurostar had a trip to Ashford. Is that the best way to get there?

Does anyone know a better way to get to Folkestone?

    Thank you

  • Lesbians....have a question about being called a lady?

I apologize in advance I do not mean to be the least bit offensive.... At the restaurant I work at we are supposed to call women, ladies. I was serving women who tended to look more like men. Do you think it would be offended if I would call them ladies? Is there something better to refer to them as? Women?

Any comments are helpful. Thank you so much.

  • How would you feel if this was the situation?

My husband and I work with jr high students. Another one of the leaders invented a "mind reading" game. He told my husband how it worked. He would spell out a "route" and because my husband knew how it would work, he could guess the city that he was thinking of. This was fun for a few hours trying to figure out how he did this. After a while we then said that we give up but he refuses to tell us saying it was a leader secret.

I got home and found out how it worked. My husband wanted me to promise not to tell the jr high students. I think that it's a fun game at first but if you don't tell after awhile it seems that you are using knowledge to make people feel stupid because they can't figure it out.

My husband disagreed saying it was a challenging puzzle which will get people to think and also for guys to have something to do.

I was thinking maybe it would be good for guys but not girls...

My question is if someone made up a puzzle and you couldn't solve it would you enjoy it? Why?

I heard that they were having a shortage of control tower operators. Yet, I can't find out how to get a job. Would someone explain the process of what you have to go though, training and anything else you have to do to get a job in that field?

  • Panara Bread Knife?

I had a friend that used to work at Panara Bread and gave my husband a knife. (Forgive how I describe it I don't know anything about knives). It looked like a pocket knife because the blade would fold up on the handle yet there was only one blade. The blade was curved and the handle was red.

Thank you for helping out. I'm trying to find it for Christmas.

  • Is there a club in Colorado (Denver or Colo Springs) which plays new wave music?

My favorite music to dance to is New Wave Music like:

    Joy Division/New Order

    Morrissey/The Smiths

    The Church

    Psychedelic Furs

    Echo And The Bunnymen

    The Jesus And Mary Chain

    Tears For Fears

    The Thompson Twins

    The Police

    David Bowie

Is there any clubs which play that kind of music in Colorado?

Club Onyx, Culture Club and The Dead Beat Club is supposed to play 1980s music but I do not want to hear 1980s 'cheese'. If I hear Mickey by Toni Basil one more time I'm going to scream.

Any opinions on the clubs above or any other suggestions?

  • Ever watch a children's movie with a song in it that repeates over and over-"free the horses running wild"

In elementary or middle school 10-15 years ago we watched a movie that had a song it, it that was sung over and over again. The song had the lyrics

"Free the horses running wild. Free the horses. Free the child"

It was a fictional movie with live actors. I think it was from the eighties.

    What was the movie's title?
