Too Cool For Me
What is the best way to shoot through glass?
I work in the tallest building in Denver on the 48th floor and have a great 360 degree view. How can I shoot through the glass and get the best results?
4 AnswersPhotography10 years agoWhat are your opinions of Sony DSLR and DSLTs?
First off, don't try to sell me on Nikon or Canon. I've shot with both and for me, I prefer Sony. However, I'm looking for opinions from some pros who know Sony. I'm getting my first DSLT soon so I'm excited to see what it can do.
2 AnswersPhotography10 years agoStreet Studio. How to go about it?
I was reading a book about portraits and saw this bit about a photographer in New York (Michael George) who set up a studio (Backdrop and lights) on a busy New York Street and took free portraits of anyone who wanted them to work on portraits. He would then email them to whomever wanted them. I thought it was a pretty cool idea to try.
My question is, what are the logistics of doing this. I had an idea of doing this on the Pedestrian Mall in Downtown Denver (16th Street Mall) minus the lights and doing natural light portraits with reflectors. Do you see any logistical issues?

9 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoThe new Sony Alpha A650 has built in HDR in camera, opinions?
Along with Sony's translucent mirror, "Steady Shoot" inside, Facial recognition, they now have HDR built in. I'm going to buy this as an upgrade to my a330. It's the step below Sony's FF. I'm excited to see how this works. Opinions on in camera HDR?
I'm not choosing it just for this feature. I've shot with Sony for years and this is the step below FF. I don't have the money to get FF yet.
2 AnswersCameras10 years agoDo you catch yourself pointing out areas that would be great to take pictures in?
I'm always looking for new portrait spots. Mostly urban decay areas. Now that my wife has been assisting me, she does the same.
2 AnswersPhotography10 years agoWhen did you know you had the "Photography" bug?
My grandmother dated a hippy named Dick Lind and he was a roving photographer that drove all over the Western US taking photos. She went with him often and got into it as well. We went to Santa Fe one year and she let me take some shots with her camera (using slide film). I still have them hanging on my parents wall.

1 AnswerPhotography10 years agoWhen Exporting from Lightroom, what would be a low res jpeg?
When giving my client's a disc, I am going to give them a low res disc with a watermark so they will not print. A letter from me will also state that I am not giving them the right to print from the disc. However, when exporting from Lightroom, you have the option to pick the quality of jpeg. What would be considered low-res on the slider and still look good for on-line work?

2 AnswersPhotography10 years agoSoft focus issues? What can be done? Manual focus?
I am having some major soft focusing problems. Especially in shade. Is there a reason for soft focus? Should I switch to shooting on manual only in shade?
6 AnswersPhotography10 years agoAre my non-people photos any good?

3 AnswersPhotography10 years agoWhat is the best way for me to have clients to purchase pictures through me and not through the CD I give them?
Is the best way to give them a CD with watermarked (low res) images for web publishing and saw that printing is only allowed through my website? I feel like I'm getting cheated when my clients are going to Target with my disc and getting prints rather through me.
4 AnswersPhotography10 years agoIn the hierarchy of art, where do you place photography?
I often come across painters and sculptors who claim what I'm doing with photography as not art. What is your opinion?
8 AnswersPhotography10 years agoDo you shoot manual focus or auto focus?
I find if i set my autofocus point to a certain area (say head area when shooting portraits) I tend to get great shots and I can snap off 4-5 in the time it takes to manually focus a shot. Also, on manual focusing, how can you be perfectly sure it is sharp and in focus in the little view finder and find out later on your computer, it's not as sharp, especially when shooting in low F stops?
