3 AnswersGreen Living9 years agoDoes HR2811, HR669 and S373 bother anyone else?
These are current bills. One is trying to ban ALL non-native wildlife, excluding "normal" pets. They want to ban all fish, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, snakes, and ferrets. One is a ban on all non-native snakes, and the other is a ban on pythons.
Do you want lawmakers to tell you what kind of pet you can and can't have? Tell everyone you know about this, spread the word. Contact your representatives and let them know how you feel on these matters. Call, email, write. If we don't speak up, we'll lose our pets.
HR669 is currently being re-written. There was a huge outcry from just us normal "joe's". We flooded the phone lines, email inboxes, and mailboxes. One of the reps even walked in with a box of letters he had received regarding the bill. According to the previous writing of HR669, current owners were "grandfathered" in, allowing them to keep the pets they had, but not to get anymore. Under this law, if your fish had babies, you would have to kill them. If you moved from your current state to another, you couldn't take them with you, give them away, or sell them, the only way by this law was to euthanize them.
I think I still live in America where I have my rights. Don't you?
Go do something about it!

These are legislations against owning reptiles, non native species, and pythons. Contact your representative and tell them what you think, how the bills would affect you, and what you want them to do about it.

If you have boils, or get them often, are you a walking case of staph? How do you prevent boils? How do you treat them?
2 AnswersSkin Conditions1 decade agoWhy get a pet reptile...?
Why would one get a pet reptile when they have no idea how to house it, feed it, or even what to call it? Do they think it's as easy as a dog or cat? Even with dogs and cats, you need to know how big it will get, what breed it is, along with having a litter box or fence set up before you bring it home, and plenty of food. Why wouldn't you do this for a reptile?
It seems to me like these people are just getting these things because they are "cool" which makes a bad name for this hobby.
My question:
People will you please do some research on a reptile before you bring it home????
5 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoAre today's punishment techniques directly related to children in the US acting the way they are?
How many of you have held up the "time out" punishment only to see your child later in life have no respect for anyone? How many spankers are there that have totally respectful kids? Or vice/versa. Are they on medication for ADD or the like? What effects have your punishments had on your childrens outcome?

I walked into McDonalds today with my boyfriend and son. As we walked in the door, I noticed 2 homeless men sitting in a booth. It was rather cold and foggy/rainy today. When we ordered our food, I ordered 2 cups of coffee for the homeless men. My boyfriend asked why I ordered the coffee, so I told him. He scoffed at me as he always does when I try to do something nice. He asked why I would do that, and I replied "Because I have a heart." When I gave them the coffee, one was very grateful and said he was just thinking about a cup. The other acted like he couldn't care less, but drank anyway.
Is there anyone else who does this? I never have given money, but food, drinks, and even cigarettes.
I don't understand how people can see someone like that in our society and just ignore them. They might be a drunk, but they also might be a Vietnam veteran. You never know. Do you give without expecting anything in return? Or am I all alone in this cold, heartless world?

If you, your spouse, and your child were all afloat in the sea and only were able to keep 2 of the 3 of you alive, who would you let go?
Why?
7 AnswersFamily1 decade agoParents:do you agree with this quote?
"I believe our job as parents is to civilize our young, and provide society with decent, moral citizens. If, along the way, parents are able to provide nice things, etc., thats nice. But the only things a parent "owes" a child are the parents' total concentration for about twenty years, their love and guidance (both physical and spiritual) and the requisite food, clothing, and shelter."
This quote hits home with me because I see the decline of our society and wonder "Why?". My children are raised to be civilized, decent, and moral. Are yours?
10 AnswersParenting1 decade agoProblems with step child?
OK So, he's 13, just got off probation for breaking and entering, took my car out for a joy ride last night, steals my money, broke my safe (I don't know HOW he did that one), breaks into the office next to our house, cusses, destroys everything he touches, has torn up the walls in his room, has "tagged" every wall and door in his room, disrespectful, and there's nothing I can do about it. His dad only threatens him to go live with his mom, but never goes through with it. I sold my car and the one I'm driving now is in his name, have nowhere near enough income to move out, and am basically stuck in this situation...what do I do????
8 AnswersFamily1 decade agoAre there any other women out there that use the feminine product "Instead"?
What do you think about it? I personally love it, it's sooo much better than the other 2 options out there. There are so many more benefits and it's very comfortable to me. Anyone have problems with them? Thanks!
3 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoNon Poltically Correct Question...?
I hate to stir up trouble, but am just curious...Would a white person be able to attend a black college? If so, cool. If not, why not? Isn't that a "racist" thing to do?
8 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade ago"American" Idol?
Am I the only one who thinks our American Idol should be of American descent? I know I am sounding prejudiced, but we ARE supposed to be fighting terrorism in this country. So, why vote Sanjaya as our "American" Idol?
12 AnswersTelevision1 decade agoTitle or author of book series?
I started to read a fantasy book series several years ago, and unfortunately don't remember many details, only the main character's name was Rand, and the setting was almost like a cross between the Gunslinger series by Steven King and a fairytale. It was around the time that the card game Magic became popular, if that helps any.
6 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoCoffee Problems?
Whenever I drink coffee, I get this film on my tongue that gets pretty nasty. I have to drink my coffee at home then brush my teeth again before I leave the house and can't have any after that. Is there anything I can do to prevent this so I can enjoy a cup outside of my home?
4 AnswersDental1 decade agoWal Mart recently discontinued their layaway and I'm trying to find a store who does still layaway items.?
We are trying to put Christmas gifts on layaway, namely Ipods for our 2 older kids. We looked at Target, but they have no layaway, and apparently there is no KMart around here. Even if they were I don't ever remember them doing layaway. Where can I put them on layaway, so our kids can have the item that is #1 on their list?
