  • who do I call to report suspected child abuse?

I have a friend, lets call her "Cat" who has a grandson, lets call him "D" Friday after noon "Cat" called me and asked if I could take a picture of something for her with my digital camera, (she doesn't own one.), I, being a good friend told her of course, Imagine my surprise when the thing she wanted to me to take a picture of was a bruise, in the perfect shape of a belt buckle on her 14 year old grandson's leg! as I took the picture I was told that his mother's boyfriend had done it because "D" supposedly stole a porno tape from the boyfriends dresser. and that "D" would now be living with "Cat" his grandmother, and that his mother had said that if the incident were reported that she (the mother) would lie and tell authorities that she had hit "D" for something else.

the problem is this, "Cat" collapsed on Sunday and was taken to the hospital, I happened to be at her house because I was helping her run a yard sale. She is now at home and taking it easy from a severe reaction to a combination of medications that she must take for myriad physical and psychological problems.

I was waiting for her to report the incident and say be damned to her family, but she is in no shape for this, and I don't want to cause undue stress on her, but I feel a responsibility to the "D" and unfortunately living in OH as I do there doesn't seem to be anywhere I can call for advice on what to do, do you think I should throw caution to the wind, not to mention risk "Cat" becoming angry with me for meddling, and report the incident to the local police? or should I talk to her and "D" as well and make sure that this is the course of action that they want to take?
