  • What to do if my last-minute schedule makes it impossible for me to go to the polls on Nov 5th. ?

My job schedule is erratic and I will not know my November schedule until October 25th. I plan to go to my home state to vote on Nov 5th, but what if I don't find out until 25th October that work will demand I stay local?

Can I request an absentee ballot in advance, but then go to the booth if I DO get the day off, or will requesting an absentee ballot disallow me from voting at the booth? (I prefer to vote at the booth since absentee ballots are counted separately and after the fact "if needed", to my understanding....

  • how can i get recycling service in DC?

I have asked the city, but they refuse to give me service because my building has 4 units (instead of the - extremely arbitrary - limit of 3). I can't stand throwing away so much paper, glass, plastic and aluminum every day. How do I get some service here? This is ridiculous.

  • how to arrange medical injection overseas?

I live in Belgium. Each month I have to have an injection. (Not just any injection. The biggest, fattest injection you ever saw. Really needs to be done by a doctor or nurse.)

In August I will be in America. They will never let me on the plane with such a needle. I cannot check it, because the medecine cannot be shaken up or it becomes unusable (and with the tossing of cargo bags...). There's no way a pharmacy in the US will fill a foreign prescription is there?

I suppose I could go to a US doctor with a note and prescription from my Belgian doctor, try to order the medicine from him/her and go back for the injection. However, if I could avoid this costly route it'd be great (as the doc will surely charge me an office visit just to explain and rewrite the prescription, then probably again to administer it.)

Any creative ideas how to resolve this?

    Thanks!

  • receiving residence permits in Belgium?

I need to receive my residence permit for BELGIUM (we live in brussels) by the end of the year. i applied via cohabitating with my resident boyfriend in September. We've heard nothing except that they have received my file. I have friends who have applied the same way and still have no card in hard after around a year. Does anyone know how long it actually takes?

How about if we got married? How long does it take to receive your residence card then?

    Thanks!

  • Next business step if patent not possible?

Years ago I invented a product, but was too overwhelmed by the patent process to do it. I handmade and sold a few to friends. Now I have some support, but because I "sold" it more than a year ago, I cannot patent it.

So what's my next business step if I'd still like to make some money from my idea? Do I have any options? If I take it to a company that would be interested, I'm afriad they'll just steal it?
