I wonder why Joomla has plugin, module, and component, y not only plugin or module or component?

wordpress has only plugin.

drupal has only module.

but wordpress plugin and drupal module they do the same concept. What about Joomla?

I wanna build a website that support multi-language. the problem is that :

- if i use database to do, it will make a lot of query to mysql server (it is not a good idea).

- if i create many folders for each language as below:

+ en/

- sub1/

- sub2/

- index.php

+ fr/

- sub1/

- sub2/

- index.php

it is hard to update the website, need to change every time when i update (also not a good idea)

but i think using po or xml file is a good idea.

so is there any problem if i use .po or .xml file?

and do you have any other solution better than this?
