  • Is there an online bulletin board for NYU business students looking for work?

    I'm looking for an online bulletin board, aimed toward NYU business school. Basically, I have a startup, and am looking for some students (with business school experience) looking for some extra work.

    I'm trying to avoid mass posting sites, where anyone can access (like craigslist). Basically, I'm trying to avoid people with no business school experience, and look for students who want work - preferably at NYU (since we are based in NYC).

  • What is the difference between digital linear frequency modulated (DLFM) radar and impulse radar?

    I am a NON-SCIENTIST and a LAYMAN. I'm doing some basic research on understanding radars and am looking to find out how impulse radar works

    ... how DLFM radars work (for info on DLFM radars, see this patent: http://www.google.as/patents/US7391362) ... and then I am trying to compare the two (which is better, and why). I just need basic understanding, and am trying to avoid getting too "techy".

    Please let me know if you have any ideas.

  • A client, from 3 years ago, asked for a W9 form - is that a valid request from a project so long ago?

    So, I was paid for a project that I did 3 years ago (I actually did the project 5 years ago, and it took them 2 years to pay me). This week, they've been asking me for a completed W9 form. Is that a valid request for a project that I did so long ago? Shouldn't they have filed a LONG time ago? Should I be concerned?

    I filed the income under my 2011 return (so, it's not like I'm trying to cheat or anything). But, could they be trying to say they paid me this year?

    It just seems very odd and I've never had that happen before. What should I do in this case?

  • How do I create a tumbler page with multiple tags?

    I know that I can have pages to a specific tag:

    http://www.(yoururl).tumblr.com/tagged/self

    I want to know if I can have multiple tags filter out my content. For example... if I wanted to show a page with images that contain tag "dogs" and another tag "cats", then it would show all posts that have been tagged with BOTH "dogs" and "cats".

    Alternatively, is there a way to hide certain tags ... and if so, how? So, if I want to see all "dog" tagged posts, but don't want to see any posts that contain "goldenretrievers" ... then I would see a page with all dog posts excluding any goldenretrievers.

  • Is it legal to allow your dog to drink from a water fountain (specifically in New York City)?

    I live in NEW YORK CITY. I was running yesterday morning in Central Park, and wanted to stop at the next water fountain to get a drink. As I ran up to the fountain, a woman was there with her dog. She was pushing the water button ... and her dog was standing on two legs, propped up on the water fountain, and drinking from the fountain. I was disgusted.

    Some people claim that "a dogs mouth is cleaner than a humans" ... but I know for a fact that it is urban legend (look it up!!!!). So please don't respond with an answer like that. Also, avoid posting "Ew thats gross" ... I'm looking for a legal answer.

  • Where are some classes for writing business plans in New York City?

    I checked the web, but "classes for writing business plans" didn't come up with any good results. Nor if I added "New York City". Was hoping that NYU had a good class, or some other local college/university. I assume the class might be called something else....

  • How do I use custom fonts on header tags in html?

    I want to avoid using a default set of system fonts on my webpages. I'd like to use some custom fonts instead. However, if I call the fonts in my CSS and the user does not have the fonts installed, then they wont show up on the page.

    Take a look at this page...

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/box-office-i...

    Note the header "Box Office Boom: Moviegoing Up 14.6 Percent in 2012" is a font called Vonness Compressed Bold ... which I dont have installed on my system. How do they use that font and make it viewable by all???

  • How do you redirect someone from going to an http page to our https page?

    We sent out an email to users to go to our donation form. The link we used was in the format...

    http://www.oursite.com/donation/index.php

    However, we need the users to go to the page ...

    https://www.oursite.com/donation/index.php

    They are technically the same page, so we can't use a standard javascript REDIRECT. Is there some code that will automatically redirect a user to the https page?

  • In WordPress, how do I avoid getting the "failed to upload" error when uploading an image?

    I keep getting the following error...

    “imagename.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error

    The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/websitename.com/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads.

    I've checked some forums, and they say the "uploads" directory needs to be CHMOD'D to 777 ... which I have done and I still get the error.

    Other posts have said that I need to create the uploads folder manually, and a folder inside called 2011 (for the year) and a folder inside that called 03 (for the month). All of them need to be CHMOD'd to 777. Tried it.

    Someone even recommended using just 755, because "Some servers are touchy". Still didin't work. Still getting the same error.

    A final person recommended turning off Safe Mode on my server ... but my webhost refuses to do that (and I want to avoid doing that anyway!)

    Is there another thing I can try? Some setting I need to get my webhost to change? Please help! Thanks!

  • How do you replace certain text strings on a page using javascript?

    First, I don't know javascript that well. I'm a designer, and html programmer, with little knowledge of programming languages (so please use layman's terms and keep your answers simple).

    I have a webpage that uses a CMS (doesn't matter which). I want to translate a form from english to german easily. The original developers said that I can use some javascript code to change the form - the code will replaces text strings on the page. So, if a field says ADDRESS, I want it to say the german equivalent.

    So, I am looking for a piece of javascript that will search my webpage for specific strings .... and replace those strings with another string. I need to do this multiple times (I need to replace "Address", I also need to replace "How did you hear from us", etc).

    Two items to note:

    1.) I can't replace strings of a specific ID or CLASS. The CMS constantly changes the IDs and Classes ... so searching the page for an ID wont work.

    2.) Also, I can't use the onload() function, because I dont have access to the body tag.

    Can someone point me to a good example of some code that does this? I'm not looking for ALTERNATIVE solutions, I'm looking to do everything I said above. Please only post helpful tips.

    Below is the code that I was using, but because the IDs keep changing (and this code searches for specific IDs), I can't use it...

    <script type="text/javascript">

    function WriteContentIntoID(id,content) {

    if(document.getElementById) {

    var idvar = document.getElementById(id);

    idvar.innerHTML = '';

    idvar.innerHTML = content;

    }

    else if(document.all) {

    var idvar = document.all[id];

    idvar.innerHTML = content;

    }

    else if(document.layers) {

    var idvar = document.layers[id];

    idvar.document.open();

    idvar.document.write(content);

    idvar.document.close();

    }

    } // end of WriteContentIntoID()

    function ChangeIt() {

    var newcontent = 'Vorname:';

    WriteContentIntoID("PC1280_lblFirstName",newcontent);

    var newcontent2 = 'Nachname:';

    WriteContentIntoID("PC1280_lblLastName",newcontent2);

    var newcontent3 = 'E-Mail-Adresse:';

    WriteContentIntoID("PC1280_lblEmail",newcontent3);

    var newcontent4 = 'Telefonnummer:';

    WriteContentIntoID("PC1280_lblPhone",newcontent4);

    var newcontent5 = 'Mein Interesse an Parkinson besteht aus folgenden Gründen:';

    WriteContentIntoID("PC1280_lblLgnCtl219",newcontent5);

    var newcontent6 = 'FoxFlash – Ich möchte die neuesten Meldungen per Email erhalten:';

    WriteContentIntoID("PC1280_lblLgnCtl216",newcontent6);

    }

    setTimeout("ChangeIt()",0);

    </script>

  • Is there a FREE program for managing a SQL database for a Cold Fusion website?

    I have a website that uses Cold Fusion and pulls content from a SQL database. I have the database information, but I need a program that can easily login to the SQL database so I can manage and update some of the tables/rows.

    Is there a good program that does this?

    Is it easy to use?

    Is it a program that can be used remotely, and does not have to be installed on the server?

    I'm looking for something like WS_FTP (this is used for FTP -not SQL- , but does not need to be installed on the server to run ... it is a program that runs from my own computer and reads the info on the server). I'm not looking for a program like PHPMyAdmin (this is for managing MySQL databases, but needs to be installed on the computer).

    FREE programs are best.

  • Is there an internet service sales tax in New York State (see details)?

    We have an online service where we collect money for people, for a short period of time (1 to 6 months). At the end of the time, we send the money (to where they agreed to have the money sent upon deposit with us). If our business is strictly online, and we are not selling any goods (just holding money), is there any kind of sales tax that we need to worry about???

  • Is there any legal or government paperwork that we need to file if we are holding money for people?

    We are building a website where we have to hold money for people, for a small period of time. Once the time runs out, we send the money to where they designated (when they sent the money). Since we are holding someone's money (for 1 to 6 months), is there anything legally that we need to do? Our bank said that we can use an unincorporated business account for the funds (and an escrow wasn't needed). They said, ideally they would have an escrow account for each individual user ... but we could end up having hundreds of users, and individual accounts were not a good idea.

  • Why do most retailers follow the "suggested" retail price?

    I understand that most wholesalers and manufacturers have a suggested retail price for their products ... but why do most retailers follow the "suggested" retail price? I understand they have margins, but wouldn't it be in some of the retailers best interest to out-price other retailers? For example, if Best Buy sold a Sony TV for $1000, and Circuit City sold the same TV for $950, wouldn't most people go to Circuit City?

    Also, alot of online retailers, who don't have the costs of traditional retailers (such as a large staff, store rent, etc.), also follow the suggested retail price? Shouldn't they be priced lower? Most are AT or NEAR the suggested retail price?

  • How do you change the DNS records without changing the email server?

    I have a hosting account with one company, and a domain registered with DROA. Typically, to point a domain to my website, I would enter my DNS info into the Name Server section of DROA...

    (See http://www.djgallagher.com/_dns_registrar.jpg for an image of the NAME SERVER portion of the DROA account page)

    However, I noticed my friend has their email already setup somewhere else (see http://www.djgallagher.com/_hostsemailforwarding.j... for an image of their domain's advanced settings).

    So, I don't want to enter my name server and bring down their email. Where and how do I enter the Name Server info without bringing down there emails?
