My favorite quotes:1.Small minds talk about other people, whilst great minds talk about ideas. 2.Nobody is completely innocent, and nobody gets out of this alive.3.Use your turn signals, people! 4.Be responsible for what you say or do, especially when raising children. I'm an aging Renaissance Man/Surgeon who dabbles in everything: computer techie, car restorer/mechanic, photographer, musician, poet, astronomer, philosopher, and an oenophile. My greatest love in life is my wife May, to whom I devote my soul, my wishes, my wants, and all my hope. Nuff said.
do city apartment ordinances not apply since i am renting a "condo"?
My landlord raised my rent to 6%. Los Angeles has an apartment rent stabilization ordinance allowing only a 3% increase in rent for July 2010- June 2011.
My landlord states this does not apply because he claims I am renting a "condo" and there is no rent control in Westwood. There is no HOA fee, no common area, and the landlord owns all the units. What is my next move? Call city hall? HUD?
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoIs putting your name on a US Marshall badge misleading, especially if you are not a US Marshall?
I saw an advertising for a law firm in Southlake,Texas that displays the lawyer's name on a US Marshall's badge. I cannot see any reference to that person actually being a US Marshall. How can I find out if he really is a US Marshall? If he is not a US Marshall, isn't there a law against impersonating an officer of the law?

3 AnswersMovies1 decade agoWhy does Mexico have the second richest person when 100s of thousands of it's people leave?
Carlos Slim is now the second most richest person, a telecom and media magnate in Mexico. Yet 100,000 Mexicans leave that country annually and illegally into the US. It's unfathomable that one person could make so much money when his countrymen are so poor they risk their lives to escape across the border. Now he states he wants to donate millions to Bill Gates' charity?
4 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoWhy are land mines considered unethical when IEDs are not?
The Ottawa treaty was signed to ban the use and stockpiling of anti-personnel (AP)mines. Most of the world considers APs illegal, yet noone denounces Iraqi "insurgents" for using them.
Technically, IEDs are AP mines. More than 10,000 est. Iraqi civilians have been decimated by these landmines.

2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoUpgraded to AMD 64-bit FX / 2 CPU?
My motherboard and cpu was upgraded to AMD-64 3500+ on ECS Mobo running 800Mhz DDR2 dual processors. Is WinXP 64-bit ed necessary? Can't I run WinXP Pro (32-bit ed)? My old HDD FAT32 doesn't seem to boot on the new setup. I didn't think re-formatting to NTFS was necessary. Is my MBR corrupt? I don't know, it won't post and I get a BSOD. There's a message but it flickers out so fast I can't get the codes. Thanks ahead of time.
