Anybody know how to download a radio programme from BBC i-Player?
There's a phone-in programme which was broadcast on BBC Radio Ulster yesterday (Monday) morning and I'd like to get a copy of it. I have the URL and that, so I can access it okay on my PC, but I can't figure out how to get it on to my hard-drive.
I'd be grateful for any good advice. Thanks.
2 AnswersRadio1 decade agoIs my monitor dying?
I'm using a 19" TFT with my Compaq Presario PC. When I switch both on it takes anything from 2 to 4 minutes for the TFT display to flicker (and boy does it flicker) to life. When it finally does so the picture is as good as it's ever been. There are no faults or discolourations anywhere on screen, and my computer is at peak performance.
Anybody ever experienced this, and if so what was the problem?
Any advice would be very welcome. Thank you.
2 AnswersMonitors1 decade agoCan two image editors be used on the same PC without causing a conlict in the system?
I am currently using, and am happy enough with, Paint Shop Pro 9. However, I'd like to install Photoshop and be able to switch between the two as and when I'd require. Is this possible without causing problems in my system?
5 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoWhy is it a - for example - "five-year anniversary" all of a sudden?
This is another monstrosity that has crept uninvited into our language from God knows where.
The short definition of "anniversary" is "The ANNUALLY recurring date of a past event", as in "a couple's 50th Wedding Anniversary". This can never be "a couple's 50-year anniversay". So when someone says it's "the 6-year anniversary of 9/11", strictly speaking that means it's the anniversary of the 6th year after 9/11, and so on.
Even worse is "the 3, 4, 5, 6-month anniversary" (of some event). You can't have a monthly anniversary! Why is this corruption happening? Does anybody know how it can be stopped?

I mean, it's never just a single gutload of toxic sludge that's caked on the metalwork. I went out to mine yesterday and it was peppered from front to back with about a ton of bowel movements from our feathered friends. This has happened before to me and others I know. Is there a scientific explanation for this disgusting behaviour, or are all birds just bastards?

I should know this, and I might have done once, but I've forgotten now.

All known variables can be taken into account - war, famine, earthquakes, weather, illnesses including HIV/AIDS, birth and death rates and so on.
5 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoWhat's all this fuss about Richard Hammond and his car crash? He lived and was up and about in a few days.
I mean he got (and still gets) as much media coverage as the Pope or the Queen Mother got when they shuffled off their mortal coils. And what do our troops get for dying in Iraq and Afghanistan? Two sentences on a news bulletin stating that a soldier has been killed, and a further two the following day stating who he or she was and their regiment. And that's it!
This world's gone insane. Enough of the Hammond fella and his ilk already!
