What is Jess Jackson really scared of?
Is it really the 'synthetic track?' Is he afraid of Rachel running the Classic distance or is it all a smokescreen over him not wanting to send her to a showdown with Zenyatta between now and October?
3 AnswersHorse Racing1 decade agoDelosvientos--is he done?
Two bad finishes in a row. Is it time to retire him, or just bad form that could get better? He looked awesome before he went away in January.
1 AnswerHorse Racing1 decade agoWould you consider Churchill Downs speed-biased?
It seems to me like the dirt track has been favoring early speed, the Derby notwithstanding. Is that a new phenomenon? I've only played it intermittently over the years, but have been playing it more lately since it seems like I've discovered a possible bias and have been cashing more tickets. Any regular handicappers of that track agree or disagree, or have a historical perspective to add?
2 AnswersHorse Racing1 decade agoRight wingers: do you really feel like your extremist attacks on Sotomayor are a winning strategy?
All the evidence in Judge Sotomayor's record suggests she is a fairly mainstream jurist. Do you really think attacking her, especially with the none too thinly veiled appeals to racism and sexism, is going to be a winning strategy for you? My impression is that it is not only turning people off, the reality is she is also about as good a pick for your side as you can expect from a Democrat.
20 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat do the haters have to say now that Nicanor has won his first grass race by 15 1/4 lengths?
He isn't his brother, but that was some run today.
5 AnswersHorse Racing1 decade agoIs the real loser of the Kentucky Derby...Andy Beyer?
The whole Beyer system of evaluating horses seems worthless after this years Run for the Roses. Three of the only four horses that hit the superfecta...and it was a huge gap between the top four and the rest of the field...ran some or all of their races on synthetic tracks, never earning the gaudy Beyer figures that irrelevant nags like Dunkirk or (I'll admit he has an alibi) Friesan Fires ran up. Does anyone disagree that the Beyer Speed equation has a huge blind spot when it comes to all-weather surfaces?
7 AnswersHorse Racing1 decade agoDo we still have to hear from Republicans about the free market?
We do not, and have not for some time, had a free market economy. The bailout, which appears headed into law, confirms that emphatically. So can we have a moratorium on homilies to the free market for a while now? Because it just isn't so.
4 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoPalin fans, who like her because she reminds you of people you know, would be fun to drink with or whatever:?
Is that really what you want in the White House? The last thing I want in a VP (read: President ICE) is an ordinary person.
5 AnswersElections1 decade agoHow bad was War Pass today?
He finished dead last, but he had a horrible trip. Not only at the beginning, but at the turn and basically the whole way through. Plus, it was only his second race off the layoff. Do you think those are valid excuses, or do you just think less of him after the Tampa Bay Derby?
5 AnswersHorse Racing1 decade agoDid anybody see Blues Girl Too on Saturday Night at Los Al?
Holy Cow, what a horse!
2 AnswersHorse Racing1 decade agoHow'd everybody do in the NTRA handicapping contest today?
I only had three winners and the 2nd place finisher in the feature at the Big A, but at least I had the day's biggest longshot (and played it-albeit too timidly--in real life).
4 AnswersHorse Racing1 decade agoEnglish racing fans--how do you decide on your wagers?
I've been following English racing on a close to daily basis since At The Races started simulcasting on TVG in the states. The betting on these races seems somewhat mistifying to me at times. I'd like to know what percentage of UK punters do original handicapping and how many get their selections from touts. I work from the past performances, and I see a lot of horses at high odds that seem to me like they should be more heavily favored. What do you go on when you make your bets?
3 AnswersHorse Racing1 decade agoHow can USC still be in the top fifteen?
Don't you have to at least look good in your games to be ranked?
11 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoIs it possible that all of NCAA football is mediocre this year?
I think we may have reached the point where Parity has become Parody.
7 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoMarion Jones supporters: do you feel stupid and/or used?
It's been clear to me for years that Jones was a doper. Now she has finally admitted it, after years of sanctimonious denial. To the people who believed her lies and defended here in public forums, how do you feel about her now?

1 AnswerYahoo Answers1 decade agoWhy do Lakers fans make up so many trades that would never happen?
I'm always seeing the most ridiculous things here. Lakers should trade Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown for Kevin Garnett, Lakers should trade Lamar and Kwame for Pau Gasol. Why would any of these trades happen? I've got one, why don't the Lakers trade Smush Parker and Sasha Vujacic for Steve Nash and Shawn Marion? That makes sense.
5 AnswersBasketball1 decade agoDo you think the video game makers should sue Adam Jones for false use of the Pac Man name?
He can't be helping the product, associating the Pac Man name with his brand of thuggery.
