What happens when you sell a corporate bond on the open market?
Does the original company, let's say Target, pay the new investor? Or do you pay the new investor the interest payments?
4 AnswersInvesting10 years agoWhat happens when you buy company stock?
I understand you get money if the stock price increases, but you also get money if stockholder equity increases, right?
3 AnswersInvesting10 years agoAren't congress AND the president accountable for creating the budget?
What I'm seeing on the local news seems to indicate it would be the republican-controlled house's fault if there's a government shutdown. But shouldn't blame fall on both shoulders if they can't create a plan?
7 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoHow to divide household needs with extra spending money?
My fiance and I are joint on each others' accounts. We have a household account, two accounts for our own "entertainment," and a savings account in only our name for retirement/investment.
The question is what would you say is "entertainment," and what would you say is "household?"
Thanks!

7 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHas anyone eaten at or willing to say something about The Forbidden City restaurant in Long Beach?
I'm eating there on Sunday. I'm looking to see what the ambience is like (quiet, noisy, romantic), and how good the food is.
2 AnswersLos Angeles1 decade agoWho would like to know why we don't go back to the moon?
Here's the catch: It's a joke on my day calendar. Answers are welcome, naturally. I'll post the punchline as best I can (in the additional details) and choose a best answer as I see fit. Good luck.
5 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhere's a good bar or restaurant to watch the Superbowl in Oakland or SF?
My boss is going to Oakland. I'm from Pacifica, but now live and work near Los Angeles. I don't know the east bay that well. I'm not really sure where to advise him to go. I was thinking BART might be the way to go. . .I could suggest Gordon Biersch near SBC Park, but I don't think BART stops close to there. Please, suggest.
1 AnswerSan Francisco1 decade agoWhat would you do if you had a honeymoon budget of about $1,200 - $1,500?
Where would you go? Keep in mind this is travel for 2 and includes food, hotel (or could be a cruise). We'll either be leaving from San Francisco or Los Angeles.

Reason why should be obvious.
5 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoVariable and fixed expenses on the income statement?
Looking at an ordinary income statement, is there a way for me to cull what expenses are variable and fixed just by looking at the quarterly information? I'm trying to do a cost-volume-profit-analysis based on net income and total revenue and all the other information listed in the company's financials.
Thanks a lot!

I could've sworn I heard it on the radio with some kind of solo but anything I see on youtube doesn't have a solo.
5 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoWhat do you think is the trick to asking a good "best of answers" question?
I'm trying so hard to see my question pop up on that little marquee as I come here one of these days. Do any of you have any good tips?
1 AnswerYahoo Answers1 decade agoTonight's my anniversary, can you reccomend a good restaurant?
Every year we usually eat at the Cheesecake Factory, but I really want something different. Can anyone recommend something where the price is about the same (up to $20 a plate), and it's quiet with a nice environment in LA or OC? I want to be able to wear khakis and a polo but nothing too fancy (obviously).
Thanks a lot.
8 AnswersLos Angeles1 decade agoDo you find it difficult to follow instructions?
I'm trying to get a general idea of how easy it is for people to listen, and follow instructions.
4 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoDemand for loans vs. supply of loans?
I heard on Bloomberg TV today banks are willing to lend but we just don't want to borrow. Is there a website that tells me this info? Is there a "market index" I could look at that measures this? What implication does this have for the greater economy?
Thanks.
2 AnswersEconomics1 decade agoWho to invite to a wedding?
I've read that if you haven't had a meaningful conversation with someone within the last year, you shouldn't invite them. Do you think this also applies to Facebook? A lot of contact I have with people is over FB.

1 AnswerOther - Music1 decade agoHow do you figure out who owns a public company?
Let's say Warren Buffet owns 20% of Coca Cola. How would you find that out? Does Coca Cola disclose that? Does Buffet disclose that to Berkshire Hathaway investors? I'm trying to find out who owns certain companies, and want to know where to look for that information.
2 AnswersInvesting1 decade agoWhat are investment banks, and what do they do?
I know Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and others are them but I just want to know what purpose they serve. I know during the financial crisis they invested heavily in real estate debt securities, then couldn't collect on those assets. On top of that, they financed those assets with short-term debt. Then, investors pulled money and short sales on these companies caused a liquidity crunch. All this is besides the point, I want to know what investment banks are.
