Does he like me or not?
He has done some things to make me think that he likes me, but I'm not sure.
He has:
-asked me out
-asked for my number
-we text every day
-invited me to his homecoming, and he only danced with me
-said really sweet things to me
What do you think?
5 AnswersSingles & Dating10 years agoWhat do you think of my prologue?
The utter idea of arranged marriages confounded me. Nothing good came out of them, except, perhaps, a lifetime’s worth of misery. We no longer lived in the seventeenth century; logically speaking, arranged marriages should be an anomaly by no, particularly marrying as a teenager. Arranged marriages are outdated and old-fashioned. They should no longer exist.
Or so you think.
It was the strangest world in which we inhabited – the strangest indeed.
I lived in the year of 2739. Much time had passed, and time passed meant evolution. Our world had changed tremendously. Some saw this great change as the best thing that has ever happened to them, while others resented the change and wished for things to go back to the way they were. There were two different ways to look at this situation – two opposing perspectives.
I’d like to think that I favoured neither side, but it probably wasn’t true. Deep down, I knew I preferred freedom, rather than having to live my life the way it had been planned for me since birth.
Everyone’s life had been planned by a powerful government organization called the Sanctum. Unlike me, according to my parents, the Sanctum was the best thing to ever happen to them, a gift from God – not that they believed in God much more, not since the Sanctum.
The Sanctum controlled everything and everyone.
They planned a life for each and every person – who they would marry, what age they will marry, when they’ll die, and much more. The Sanctum preached to our people that never straying from the path they put us on was a symbol of our loyalty to them.
Some people required that sense of loyalty in their lives. These were the people who would do anything the Sanctum asked of them. They were the devout followers. My parents were just two of these people among millions.
And then, on the other hand, there were those who despised the Sanctum, and what they symbolized – albeit not many people. These were the people who didn’t want to be the puppets in their lives – the pawns to be controlled; they wanted to be the puppeteers, to hold their fates in the palm of their hands.
They craved one thing: liberation.
To them, living under the rule of the Sanctum, was no life at all, no different from being a prisoner in jail. And it’s no surprise that these people are painted as the bad guys in this story – because they didn’t agree with the Sanctum, because they opposed the highest authority that existed in our world.
These people – these brave people who dared to speak up – were known as Uprisers.
All my life – and I’ve had sixteen years of it, I’ve been warned to stay away from Uprisers, to have minimal contact with them. Easier said that done, I think. The thing is, they don’t tape a sign on their heads, disclosing their true identity; they’re discreet, which made my task of avoiding them almost impossible. I’ve probably already encountered an Upriser without even knowing.
Insubordination against the Sanctum was punishable by death. Many feared the repercussions of a rebellion, so they stayed obedient, although, inside, they longed for more.
I could, perhaps, be counted as one of those people – that is, until I met Theron.
That’s when everything changed.
My name is Remy McFarland, and this is my story.
7 AnswersBooks & Authors10 years agoWhat is a good title for my story?
My story is about a girl (R) who's sister (B) is comatose after a car accident where R was driving. After a few months of B being comatose, R convinces her parents to let B go. So now R feels lonely because she lost the person closest to her.
I have potential title:
It's Ashes of Solitude.
Do you like the title? Would you pick up a book with that title? Or do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks!
