  • Double major in Electrical Engineering and Drama?

How hard is it to major in Electrical Engineering and Drama?

So I visited UC Irvine and LOVED it. But there was one problem: they don't offer a minor in drama. One option I could choose is to go there and double major. I would major in Electrical Engineering and Drama with an emphasis in design. But, that's probably going to be very hard. Now, I'm willing to work hard to achieve a double major, but is it doable? I mean, should I not even consider double majoring because of its difficulty, or is it just a little crazy?

  • Do I have a learning disability or something?

I do well in grammar, spelling, but not reading. I can read fast and thoroughly, articulating every word, but I can't understand what I read. It's not just that I stare off in space while reading a paragraph and have to go back to it, it's that sometimes I actually don't understand the words. For example, if I had the sentence:

The duck waddled to the pond.

Obviously I know that a cute bird walked in a funny way to a small body of water. But sometimes I can't understand sentences like that. I read them over and over very closely and they just don't make sense. I have to stop, think about each individual word, visualize each, and then string them together. It's only with reading. When people say things out loud, I understand them perfectly. I think that it's because their tone of voice and body language helps me visualize what they're saying. I'm also not good at writing complex sentences because I don't know how to word them. I just have an image in my mind but I can't express myself well through words. For example, I've rewritten this question multiple times. I know right now that it seems I'm just a visual learner and I have nothing really wrong with me, but it seems more severe than other visual learners I know. Do you know about any learning disabilities that sound like this?

  • Is it that hard to get into college?

People now are going over and beyond to get into a "good" school. I always hear, "Colleges like this.... colleges like that...." and to them it seems impossible to get into college. How hard is it really? The main college I'm focusing on and care about is SDSU. It doesn't seem that hard to me because I get good grades and take higher - leveled classes, but people are taking tons of classes and extracurriculars just to get into it.

  • Should I take 6 or 7 classes next year?

I am going into 10th grade next year and I don't know whether or not I want to take 6 or 7 classes next year. This year I'm already taking the art my school requires so I don't need to take 7 classes. It would be fun though, because If I do take 7 classes I will either take Foods 1-2 or Ceramics 1-2P. I want to sleep in because I always feel very tired in the morning, but Foods would teach me a lot about cooking (which I suck at) and Ceramics would be a cool new experience. Neither of them make you do homework so I don't have to worry about that. I know I have a year to think about it, but I love school and like to have things planned.

What do you think I should do?
