  • Jason Bay Has More Homers Than Manny Ramirez Since 2006

Since the beginning of 2006, Bay has 78 homers, Manny has 75. Bay also has just 1 fewer RBI (258-257) in that time period. Just thought you guys should know that before you go saying that Bay is nowhere near the hitter that Manny is. And let's not forget that Bay is a far superior fielder and has a much better attitude.

  • Preliminary Names in Manny Deal

    Dodgers get Manny

    Red Sox get Bay

Pirates get Craig Hansen, Brandon Moss, Andy Laroche, and another Dodgers AA prospect

I can't imagine this is it. If it is, the Pirates and Dodgers make out like bandits. I'm not saying it's bad for the Red Sox, but I think the Red Sox must be getting at least one other player (John Grabow possibly).

  • Could Bruce Springsteen be considered blues?

I know he's usually not, but I was thinking about this the other day. A lot of his songs have sad or somber themes about real life experiences many of his songs have awesome harmonica and sax pieces, both of which are often associated w/ the blues. Just wondering if anyone here has ever thought about this and what you think about my idea.

  • St. Patty's Day- Best Irish-Sounding Song?

Only catch here is it can't be a Dropkick Murphys song. I love Dropkick, but I want some different answers. My favorite would be Bruce Springsteen's "American Land". It's about all immigrants, not just the Irish, but it has a very Irish flavor to it.

  • Any Songs You Didn't Like At First, But Now Love?

The question about songs you like right away made me think of this question. It can either be a song you didn't like for a long time, but now do or a song whose intro didn't appeal to you but then you loved the rest of the song. For me, the first time I heard "Love Reign O'er Me" I didn't think it was all that great. The slow beginning was weird and I didn't think the instruments throughout the song really sounded like The Who that I was used to. But now it's one of my top 5 favorite songs of all-time.

  • Classic Rock Guitarists Quiz?

OK, so in one of the threads, some people complained that the board was boring and we needed to spice things up. So, I though it would be the perfect time for a quiz! As usual, I beg you not to use Google or Wikipedia.

    1) Name one popular Aerosmith song that Brad Whitford play lead guitar on rather than Joe Perry.

    2) Name a Rolling Stones song in which Mick Taylor plays an outro guitar solo.

    3) Name a Derek & the Dominos song that Duane Allman did not play guitar on.

    4) What famous guitarist said Steely Dan's "Reelin' In the Years" was his favorite solo of all-time?

    5) What famous guitarist wrote "Sweet Home Chicago"?

    6) Name 3 guitarists from the band Fleetwood Mac.

    7) What famous drummer is now a guitarist in a popular rock band?

    8) Jimi Hendrix started lighting his guitar on fire in an attempt to one-up what guitarist?

    9) At the age of 17, what guitarist recorded the rift for "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"?

    10) Eddie Van Halen once said he had learned all of which guitarist's solos by age 14?

  • Funniest Real Song Ever?

By real song, I mean not something by a comedian (Chanukah Song) or a parody (any Weird Al stuff). My pick would be The Who's "A Quick One While He's Away". The funniest part is when they just keep repeating "cello, cello, cello" because they couldn't afford to actually pay a celloist (not sure if that's what they're called).

  • Favorite Bruce Springsteen Song?

OK, whenever I go to a concert, I go crazy and listen that artist for like an entire week before the concert. I'm going to see Bruce next Thurs, so today I kicked off the madness by listening to every Bruce song I have in my library (I have like 60 and I'm still going right now). So, I want to know what your favorite Bruce song is. In order, mine would be:

    1) Thunder Road

    2) Jungleland

    3) Rosalita

    4) The Rising

    5) Born to Run

  • What NBA Player Do I Most Resemble?

OK, so I play basketball a lot w/ a bunch of other guys on my floor and we decided that we're gonna try to figure out what pro we most resemble as far as our game goes (I know sounds a little childish, but whatever). My height is below average (I'm 18 and 5-8), so I play guard, usually the point. My tendency is to pass before I shoot because I'm just an average shooter, but I have a tendency to knock down big 3s. I'm not great at driving the lane and I don't grab too many rebounds. The strength of my game is my defense. I can usually shut down the other team's best guard and I force a lot of turnovers. What NBA player, past or present, do you think I most resemble? Try to make sure it's a name that the average fan would know, but it doesn't have to be a HOFer. So far, the best suggestions I've got are Gary Payton, Mo Cheeks, and Joe Dumars. Someone said Payton drove it a lot, though, which I don't do. Does anyone know if Cheeks or Dumars drove a lot?

  • Current Bruce Springsteen Tour?

I'm going to the Bruce Springsteen in Hartford next week and was wondering if anyone knew who was opening for him. It's the first stop on the 2008 tour, so it might not be the same as whoever opened for him last year.

Also, Yahoo! wanted to put this under Sports- Football for some reason.

  • What Genre Best Fits Steve Winwood?

His solo stuff in the 80s was definitely poppy (although still great), but in the 60s he was with Traffic and Blind Faith, which were both very bluesy bands. I've even heard people classify him as rock.

Peter Green or Stevie Nix/Lindsey Buckingham? I say Peter Green in a landslide (pun intended).

  • Longest Non-Live Song Ever Recorded?

OK, I'm looking for the longest non-live song ever recorded. It has to be on an album and not split up into separate parts, so Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" doesn't count. The longest I can find is The Mars Volta's "Cassandra Gemini", which clocks in at 31:42. The longest song I actually have on my iPod is Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" at 17:10. What's the longest song you know of and/or the longest song you have?
