I'm currently a post-doctoral research associate in mathematics. My research interests are in the areas of inverse problems, differential geometry, and PDEs. I mostly like to answer math questions at the advanced undergraduate or early graduate level. Often I will intentionally give slightly incomplete or sketchy solutions to problems so that the questioner can complete the missing steps.

  • What would c. a. d. mean in French?

    I am trying to read a math book that is written in French. I have run across the abbreviation, c. a. d., and do not know what it means. The full sentence is:

    "On suppose que p est elliptique c. a. d. que p_0 =\= 0 partout."

    p_0 means p has the subscript 0 (although this doesn't have any bearing on my question). Thanks in advance.
