  • wired and wireless pc in same home?

We have a pc and I just got a new laptop. I need to hook up both computers to our cable internet but I'd like to leave the PC wired and let the laptop go wireless. I know that I need to get a router but will any router do or do I need a specific type to combine wired and wireless? Sorry for such a noob question but this is the first time I've ever messed with routers and multiple connected computers. I know if it's possible to do this, once I have the router in my hand I'll figure it out myself but I figured I'd take care if the "can I do it" part before I go out and buy one. Thanks in advance for any information.

  • Unemployment and tax refunds..?

My husband has been on unemployment since march...all totaling nearly 10K in benefits. Not having taxes taken out of the unemp. benefits. He worked the first 3 months of the year with taxes being taken out. We have 2 kids and I'm not working. He gets head of household, EIC..etc. I'm getting nervous about our taxes at the end of this coming year. Any ideas on what may happen with it?

  • Help Installing Windows 7..currently running xp pro.?

I'm having a heck of a time getting this thing installed. I'm currently running xp pro...Ive downloaded and burned w7 to dvd. For some reason it won't run the cd on startup. It goes right to loading xp. I've changed the boot in my bios, I've tried force running the cd. Nothing works. So...I partition my HD and extracted the contents of the w7 dvd onto the new partition..when I try to install it with the .exe file it says setup.exe is not a valid win32 app. I'm assuming that's because I'm using xp which is 32 bit to try and install a 64 bit OS? I'm confused as to what to try next honestly. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice?

Also I wanted to add that on the newly partitioned bit of my hd that's labeled F, after extracting all the contents of the W7 dvd, there is a windows 7 blue icon...like it's actually there. But again I can't seem to do anything with it.

My computer is AMD phenom 9950 quad core processor..500 gigs of HD space, 8 gigs of ram (that my xp isn't utilizing, hense why I want a 64bit OS).

  • Installing Windows 7 via burned dvd?

I just downloaded windows 7 and burned it to dvd with Nero. Should I format the drive first then install it or what. I tried running it at startup and it won't run...

I was going to run it in xp and for some reason it keeps opening it WITH Nero. So I'm afraid if I format it first, it won't install because it's trying to open with Nero..then I'll end up having to put my xp back on. I've been running xp for years..just wanted to try a different os. Should I make a new partition and install it on it, or will it even install at all seeing that it for some reason wants to open with Nero.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Changing the freeze plug on a buick roadmaster?

It got really cold out last night...-30 around. My husband started the car for work this morning..came in to let it warm up and we heard a loud POP come from outside near the car..well long story sort...there is alot of coolant on the ground and we think the freeze plug blew out or something. Does anyone know if they are hard to replace? I know they are cheap but I also know that sometimes they are in a bad spot on the engine and hard to install. It's a 93 buick roadmaster...a V8.

  • Causes of crop impaction in fids.....serious answers only pllllease.?

To those of you that know a lot about parrots and raise baby birds I have a story and a theory I'd like to get your view on. The last clutch of eclectus babies that I raised, when I pulled them from the parents one had an impacted crop. The blockage was small and squishy like. You could actually move it with your finger, I wondered if it was a piece of cotton or something from one of the toys. I nursed it back to health with some emeraid and lots of love and it passed the impaction about 2 weeks later, he's now a GORGEOUS baby boy that I just finished weaning along with his clutchmate. Well I just had another baby hatch on the 30th. I checked him 2 days ago like I do everyday and low and behold, a hard SOMETHING in the crop. I pulled it yesterday to handfeed and find out what in the wold was going on. After a few handfeedings yesterday, whatever it was passed. I'm wondering if the male isn't giving the female enough liquids during the regurgitation process. Thoughts?

  • Most effective way to get rid of poison ivy?

Went camping last weekend with the husband and kids..now I'm riddled with poison ivy. I have several spots on my arms, on the back of my knees, on my legs, on my face a couple places. I've always got poison ivy and always treated it with nettle juice but it doesn't seem to be working to well this time. It's just spreading man..driving me nuts! Calamine has never worked for me either..anyone havea any good ideas?
