  • looking for a piece of art on loss and anguish?

so, about the greek legend of Sisyphus...

all the artistic representations focus on him pushing the boulder up the hill. they focus on the endless toil.

but for me the heart touching idea is when the boulder slips by him and rolls down the hill. I visualize his anguish at seeing his hard work undone again and again.

anyone know of a painting, sketch or sculpture that conveys that anguish? something that can be used as a model for a tattoo

  • Seven psychopaths- blooper?

So I watched 7 psychopaths last night.

Towards the end the head henchman knew that Hans was the Quaker psychopath.

How did he know that storyline? I couldn't remember a point in the movie when Charlie costello's crew would have heard that information

  • Paint brand suggestions?

So I'm going to be rebuilding a 1950 Chevy Pick Up. I'm thinking ahead to paint so that I can stick to the color scheme as I have parts off the chassis. I've decided that I'm going to work a two-tone plan in something close to the Empire Red and Moonlight Cream colors that were used in 1950. I'm not hung up on using exact color match paint, but I'd like to stay close.

Here's the dilema, I want to have a supply in spray cans to use on the loose parts, and have it come in quarts to feed a HVLP gun, presumable both from the same company. And I'd love it if the colors picked were ones that had been around a while and were likely to stay around a while.

So, can anyone in the know suggest a decent brand, that provides bulk and touch up paint, and two colors that fit my criteria?

    Thanks for your time.

  • A pigeon (homing pigeon?) is sitting on my house...?

I think it's someone's pet because it has a blue band on one leg and a white one on the other, and it's tail feathers have been clipped. I want it to go away but it just sits there, crapping on my porch. I've tried scaring it away, but no luck.

Any ideas where someone who has lost a homing pigeon would post a 'lost pet' notice? Or know any good ways to make it want to leave? I'm not anxious to shoot it, so that would be the suggestion of last resort. Anything else?

  • about a women's hair care tool commercial last night..?

so we were watching Grey's or Private Practice (i think) and there was a hilarious commercial for a women's razor/ trimmer combo tool. in the background there were raggedy bushes that magically assume nice, trimmed shapes. Hilarious. trying to find the commercial, maybe on youtube or something, but I don't remember the product name or other info. any hints?

  • '90s movie about Irish R&B singers?

Trying to remember a movie from the mid 90s or so. It was about a group of 20 somethings in (nrothern?) ireland who put together a R&B band tryign to make it big and get out of the dump they all lived in. But would sex and pride and infighting tear the bad apart before they made it big?

It had a lot of great remakes of Aretha Franklin and such.

  • at the end of the movie hannibal, was hannibal lechter in the boat?

So we watched Hannibal over the halloween weekend and we're arguing about the ending. If you recall, Hannibal cuts off his hand to escape Clarice's handcuffs and disappears. But Clarice's hair was trapped in the fridge. At some point later she comes running out to see a boat drifting away, but it turns and you clearly see there's no one at the wheel.

I say HL cut the boat loose as a red herring and escaped some other way while Clarice chased the drifting boat.

She says that HL was hidden in the boat, but Clarice let's him get away because she loves him.

  • Does the price of retail space fluctuate seasonally?

I'm going to be opening a retail space in/ near Long Beach Ca.

My business is not likely to have a huge change in sales due to Christmas.

So, if it's not critical to be open by Christmas, can I wait till after Christmas to sign a lease and expect to get a cheaper rate per month? My thought is that more people are trying to start retail businesses before Christmas, placing a demand on space. Then after Christmas there will be more businesses shutting down due to the drop off in sales. So I thought there might be a glut of space available in January driving the average price per foot down.

Is this reasonable, or is the reality different?

  • lookinig to buy a point of sales system. Comments?

    Hi

I am opening a small retail business. I need to get a point of sale system.

I noticed one at Sam's club, with Quick books and some hardware but no computer or monitor. Check it out at samsclub.com, item #999550. they're asking just under $1200. Is that a good deal? or should I keep looking?

part 2, If I got the sams club system could I run it off a lap top with an external keyboard and monitor, or touch screen monitor? I think I would like the option of unplugging the lap top so I could take it home on look at financials nad inventory after closing. Anything wrong with this train of thought?

    Your opinions appreciated, thanks.

  • recomendations for banking services for my small business...?

I have about $100k to start up a small business in LA area, So Cal. I will probably drop about 40k in the first 2 months.

I need to pick a bank. So far I've seen reams of poorly presented comparison info on negligible differences.

I do need checking obviously, and would llike bill pay. I want to turn interest on the unused capital. I need the bank to be friendly to credit card transactions, w/ minimum of fees. Wouldn't mind carrying credit card with the same bank, so need to think about associated fees and maybe a spending report.

Please list banks you think are good for me to consider. National, or at least multi-state only please.
