    I am 17 and have a 10 month old daughter. I have been working since I was 16. Can I file taxes and claim my daughter myself? My mom said that I can't and that she is going to claim us and that I would only get $800 back for my daughter. I think she is trying to play me. Can someone please tell me the rules and regulations for this in the state of Ohio?

    I am 17 years old with a 10 month old baby. I want to file taxes and claim my child. But my mom says i can't and that I have to let her claim us on hers and that I would only get $800 back for my daughter. I think she is lieing and wants all that extra money for herself. I live in Ohio and don't know how much I am supposed to get back. Can someone please help me with this? I think my mom is trying to rip me off.
