St Bernard with serious constipation?
My 7yr old St. is really constipated. She started whining randomly. Talked to a couple of vets (both happen to be out of town at the time) figured out that she is constipated. I massaged her tummy and she finally pooped. It was extremely hard and just a few chunks. One vet suggested a suringe of soapy water into the rectum. One vet suggested a little bit of mineral oil. Tried the mineral oil (because that was the easiest at the time) She hasn't pooped since. I know that it takes a while for it to kick in. We have been trying to keep her moving and lots of water. I massage her tummy often and I swear I heard her pass gas (thinking thats a good sign). Anyone have any suggestions for me if by morning she hasn't managed to relieve herself of the pain? Obviously we will take her in to a vet if it continues. Right now we are just waiting for the mineral oil to kick in (6-8 hrs)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
8 AnswersDogs10 years agoreceived a hatchling painted turtle?
My son was given a baby painted turtle. We've made him a 10 gal habitat. 1/2 water, 1/2 "land", filter and heater. We've purchased the 4 mix of food (baby shrimp, creel & 2 kinds of pellets) Any other basic advice for first time turtle owners? I never realized how great these little guys are!

14 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHe's not dead yet....?
My step-dad (dad in my eyes) was diagnosed w/ esophageal cancer. My understanding was that there was a 24% survival rate. He seemed to have beat the cancer (kemo, surgery, lymph-nodes looking great). 2 months later they found that it had actually made it to one of his lungs. Once again. So we are back to Kemo, etc. Is there anyone out there that is available to talk about this type of cancer and/or cancer in general? No body "deserves" cancer, but this man absolutely the last person on the "should have" list!!!! I need to get some in-site from other "survivors".

4 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agogift for 1st time parents?
Hoping to get some unique ideas for a gift for first time parents. Baby is not yet born, but I was hoping to get them a nice gift. They both have a lot of family around and they will be receiving plenty of the "usual" baby stuff. We would really like to find something that they don't necessarily "need", just something that would be really cool to have. Any ideas???

13 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhat size egg to use for baking?
When a recipe (esp. baked goods) calls for eggs, what size should be used? Unless it says, "large egg(s)" I always use medium eggs for baking. Am I doing this correctly?

7 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoMy 2yr old has eczema, I need a BRAND of Pull-Up style diapers that do not contain additives.?
I have tried Pampers, White Cloud, and the other Pull-Up style that Walmart caries. She has an instant reaction. We are currently using Parent's Choice (Walmart brand) diapers and they work awesome for her, but they don't make a "pull-up" I don't want to use cloth diapers, I want underwear style, so she can pull them up and down on her own now that she is interested in the potty and when she has an accident I don't have to steam clean the carpet &/or do a ridiculous amount of laundry.
3 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoMy 2 yr old daughter has eczema, I need Pull-up style diapers that won't make her break out. Suggestions?
I currently use Parent's Choice diapers, they are great for her. I have tried Pampers Pull-Up, White Cloud pull-up, pretty much any brand that Walmart carries. She continues to have reactions to any diaper/pull-up that has any type of adative.
9 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoAt what month do you start using "years" instead of "months" for a child's age?
I always thought 12 months was 1 year, 18 months was a year-and-a-half, etc.
