  • Formula 1. Why they put steering wheel into a car just before start?

Okey I am no expert in F1 or any moto-sport. I just saw the movie Rush and in several scenes mechanic came and put steering wheel into the car just before start. Why? Movie seemed very realistic so I guess they would not be shooting scenes like this if it wasn't a real thing. Is it still done today ?

  • iPhone 5 display is soft when pressed at the corner. Shall I return it?

When I press the display at the top left corner it bends a little bit and makes a sound (like it is not holding properly). It is not by much but rest of the display is rock solid. I have the phone for half a year now and I am sure this was not happening when I bought it. I have never dropped it, I keep it in case and I use protective foil. There is no problem with functionality, the screen works just fine. I would tolerate this behavior with cheaper phone but 800 dollar device should not suffer from these issues.

  • Rack servers cooling?

Do 19" rack servers (U1 or U2) cool themselves or do they rely on external cooling system? I'm planning to buy a server buy I don't have the rack itself. Can rack unit server just lie on the table ?

  • Defibrillation during cardiac arrest. Movie myth?

I heard that it is total movie myth. Classical scenario: Person is dying, no heart beat shown on the monitor just constant tone and what they do ? They use defibrillator. I heard that this is not true at all. In cardiac arrest they do CPR and never use defibrillators. Defibrillators are only used when heart is beating irregularly (dysrhythmia, tachycardia). Is that actually true ? If so it is like the biggest movie myth of all times. Thanks

  • Why is not effective for rich countries to give money to the poor countries to help them with developing ?

Economics is not my strong side. I don't even know if what I wrote is true. I've heard that from economics point of view it is not a good way to go, that if you simply give like 100 million dollars to some poor country in Africa it won't help them very much. I would like if it is true and why? Thanks.

  • Can you list most important discoveries made thanks to space exploration ?

I'm interested especially in those which made impact on our lives. The ones which brought new technologies which are in use today. They does not need to be directly connected to space you can also add technologies based on theoretical science which was later put in practical use (like MRI machine). I've got into the fight about spending money on science and I would like to have some arguments to say how important science (especially space science) is. I know few examples but I'm there is more of them. Thanks

  • How is rotation of gas giants measured ?

How astronomers measure rotation of planets like saturn or uranus? There is no surface and very little features in the atmosphere. And how do they calculate the wind speed. I mean how do they distinguish what is rotation of the planet and what is wind speed ?

  • Keeping telescope in garage during a winter?

I've an 8" newtonian telescope (Dobsonian mount). Can I keep it safely in the garage throughout the winter without damaging mirrors or any part of optical tube assembly? Here in central Europe temperatures goes down to -20°C in the night but mostly are not lower then -15°C. I'm guessing it can be slightly bellow 0°C inside the garage.

Please respond only if you have a direct experience with telescopes. Thanks.
