Im a PhD candidate in School Psychology (but no life because of this- thus- I am on here a lot!), but I have Masters degrees in School Social Work, Special Education (I have a license to teach), and in Curriculum and Instruction with a Bachelors in Psychology with honors. (Been in school for 8 years now- transferred three times as an undergrad). I am licensed to work as a social worker in a clinic- but chose to go back to school because I like to test children, which social workers cant do. I have worked in the schools in some form (mainly with middle school special ed students) for 2 years now- taking a break to focus on the phd now.

  • Thought I would throw it to you guys- have a dilemma on a job offer?

Just thought I would throw this out to anyone reading these like I do when I am bored-

I was offered a job at a school working with a lower functioning Autistic 19 year old guy in a high school as an assistant teacher. He doesnt talk, and can be aggressive.

This sounds absolutely boring to me- not my thing at all. Im not crazy about working with older teens (ive always enjoyed the middle school aged kids), nor am I much into working with Autistic kids (I dont mind at all- but I prefer the Aspergers/higher functioning kids).

So yea- should I just bite my tongue and take the job since nothin else is coming up even though I may hate the job (and I wont be able to leave until December if I do for school reasons- I have to stay if I take this until then).

Or should I just let her know I dont want it and just take unemployment (just got the info to collect) and sub teach for a little extra money and keep looking while doing very little all day except more schoolwork?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Is it legal to post a position that is already filled (my position is posted and says in anticipation of open)?

I am working at a school- I also know that they dont have 2 openings- have been working for 3 weeks- just wondering if it is legal to post my position when I haven't been fired (or even formally disciplined for that matter). The posting is for my job, but says in anticipation of vacancy.
